TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Sewell-Thomas Stadium was not a "Happy Place" for the University of Alabama baseball team, falling 10-3 to Samford on Wednesday afternoon.  The Crimson Tide now falls to 10-7 on the season, and will be heading into Southeastern Conference play this weekend.

Alabama Crimson Tide head baseball coach Greg Goff said, "Samford played a really good game. We just needed to play a little earlier in the game and create a little more offense. I felt like our guys on the back-end kind of let the game slip away a little bit. I thought it was a closer game than what the score indicates. There are just some things that we've got to work through. It's a learning process, and hopefully we'll learn from this loss."

Crimson Tide starting pitcher Sam Finnerty (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season, allowing three earned runs off of three hits and four walks in the game. Overall, Bama allowed 10 runs on 13 hits and nine walks.  The Tide ended up using a total of six pitchers to finish the Wednesday game.

Alabama designated hitter Cody Henry finished the contest two-for-three while adding one run scored. Henry extended his hitting streak to six games. Over the course of the streak, Henry is batting a team-high .526 (10-19), with a double, three home runs, five RBIs, seven runs scored and three walks. Chandler Taylor was one-for-three with one run, while both Logan Carey and Cobie Vance hit one-for-three on the day.

The Crimson Tide will open Southeastern Conference play this weekend with a three-game series with the Missouri Tigers at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Friday opener is set for a 6:30 p.m. CT start, while the second game is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. CT. The series finale between Bama and Mizzou is set for noon CT on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.

The brothers Wray are interested in Alabama football.

The 6' 5", 290-pound freshman Jack Wray, a 2020 prospect, hails from Franklin, Tennessee and is only a freshman at Franklin High School. But get this, he already holds 15 scholarship offers. And not from also-rans. He has been offered from the likes of the University of Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Ohio State to name just a few. Just wait until the offers accumulate by the time he is a senior.

The freshman and his brother, Max, were recently in Tuscaloosa to check out The Capstone, football program and life at the University of Alabama. By the way, Max is a four-star offensive tackle prospect in the class of 2018 who just de-committed from Georgia after visiting UA. In fact, Max is now a Bama-lean, with the Tide considered the team to beat.

Though only a high school freshman, Jack can already see him in an Alabama jersey, playing for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Talking with SEC Country, Wray said, "I'm not making a decision anytime soon, but, yeah, Alabama has a great atmosphere and offeers a great education. Not only that, but the connections and the people you would meet there is a very beneficial thing."

What if his brother, Max, decides to go to the University of Alabama? Again, speaking with SEC Country, Jake said, "Of course playing together would be amazing - for me - it's about where the best situation is for me. Now if that's on the other side of the country, then I'll be there. But it's really what is best for me."

The brothers Wray were able to meet and speak with both Alabama head coach Nick Saban as well as offensive line coach Brent Key on their recent visit. Both youngsters were impressed. Jake spoke of Saban being "one of the best college coaches" ever and Key as friendly.
