TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team moves to 17-12 overall, 10-7 in the Southeastern Conference with a 70-55 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels (18-12 overall, 9-8 SEC) on Senior Night in Coleman Coliseum on Wednesday. Only one game remains to be played during the regular season.

Alabama redshirt freshman Dazon Ingram led Alabama offensively, scoring a career-high 22 points on the night on 9-of-10 shooting from the field. Freshman Braxton Key added an additional 19 points himself as well as seven rebounds, while senior Bola Olaniyan was able to pull down a game-high 10 rebounds on the evening in the win. It was Tide senior Jimmie Taylor adding his name to the Alabama record books, finishing his senior night with three blocks to become just the sixth Alabama player in program history to block 200 shots in his career (201).

UA head men's basketball coach Avery Johnson said, "This is something that we talked about; we talked about not only sending our seniors out with a bang but also giving our fans who have hung in with us all year something to some appreciation. Something I drilled in (our players') heads the last two days was I don't want to hear any excuses. I'm glad that our fans have hung with us all year long, and we really appreciate it. The game ball goes to our seniors, obviously, but, also went to our new athletic director, Greg Byrne, who we brought it into the locker room. We made sure the players knew who he was and told them how excited we are to have him and his family a part of our family."

Though Ole Miss led by as many as seven points, the Tide rolled back in to finally pull away to take the 15-point victory after Bama having led by as many as 17 in the second half.

The Crimson Tide hauled down 40 rebounds as compared to the Rebels' 36 points. Alabama finished the game with seven blocks, as well as outscoring Ole Miss 32-26 in the paint.

Alabama will close out the regular season on the road in Knoxville, Tennessee this Saturday, March 4th. This will be the only meeting between the two during the regular season. Alabama-Tennessee will tip it off at noon CT with the game being broadcast on the SEC Network.

The meet will take place at the Gilliam Indoor Track at Texas A&M University. The Crimson Tide will be taking part in seven men's events and nine women's events at the two-day meet.

To Represent Alabama At NCAA Championships

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - The NCAA has released the qualifiers list for the upcoming women's national swimming and diving championships from schools across the nation, and the University of Alabama Crimson Tide has qualified two individuals and three relays.

Bama juniors Mia Nonnenberg and Bailey Scott qualified in two individual events apiece, while the Crimson Tide qualified the 200 and 400 medley relays as well as the 200 freestyle relay.

Scott qualified in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and it should be pointed out that she holds the Alabama record in those two events. At the recent SEC Championships, She became the first female swimmer in UA history to go under 22 seconds at the recent SEC Championships, a mark that handily beat her own school record with a 21.84 to earn the bronze medal. In the 100, Scott won the SEC Championships B final with a school record 48.48, taking ninth overall. She has been a competitor at the NCAA Championships twice as part of relays. This will be Scott's first trip swimming individual races.

Nonnenberg, who earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 400 individual medley last season, qualified in both the 400 individual medley as well as the 1,650 freestyle this year. She holds the Alabama school record in both events. Nonnenberg set the school mark in the 400 individual medley at last year's SEC Championships and set the Alabama record in the 1,650 freestyle at the Georgia Tech Invitational this past November. This will be her third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships.

The Tide earned an automatic bid in the 200 medley relay on day one of the SEC Championships while the other two relays posted provisional cuts and were added to the field by virtue of their national rank. Alabama will announce its relay lineups later in the week.

Bama has the opportunity to add to its NCAA squad early this next week when the UA divers compete at the NCAA Zone B Championships March 6-8 in Auburn, Alabama.

Alabama Women's Basketball Wins

Defeats Vandy In SEC Tournament Opener

GREENVILLE, South Carolina – The University of Alabama women's basketball team has advanced to the second round of the 2017 Southeastern Conference Tournament today with a 77-57 victory over Vanderbilt early yesterday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. This win was a really big one for the Bama belles, with it being the Crimson Tide's first in the conference tournament since all the way back to 2013. The 77 points scored by UA on Wednesday were the most it has scored in the tournament since putting up 82 points against South Carolina on February 25, 1999.

Crimson Tide women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry said, "I'm just really proud of our team today. The consistent energy and effort for 40 minutes is something that we've been looking to do. We've had moments where we've been in nearly every basketball game and have been so close. It was a little thing here or there. I thought today the little things we really took care of, or big things, and impacted the game. It was a great effort from our entire team."

Bama sophomore Shaquera Wade led Alabama in scoring with 21 points. In addition to Wade, three more Crimson Tide ladies scored in double figures. They were junior Hannah Cook (15), freshman Jordan Lewis (13) and junior Meoshonti Knight (10). It was junior Ashley Williams finishing the day with a team-best eight rebounds, while Lewis contributed a game-high six assists. The Commodores were led by junior Rachel Bell, who scored 31 of Vandy's 57 points.

Curry continued, "We had great balance today. I thought our point guard (Jordan Lewis) really controlled the game. To have six assists and no turnovers and 13 points, there's been no freshman in the country that has been more valuable to her team than Jordan Lewis. I thought that Shaquera (Wade) really grew up an awful lot today and has been working hard."

With the win the Crimson Tide improves to 18-18 while the Commodores fell to 14-16.

Next up for Alabama, the Crimson Tide will take on the No. 5 seed Tennessee Volunteers at approximately 1:30 p.m. CT this afternoon.
