TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - The University of Alabama gymnastics team is ranked No. 6 this week in the national rankings after closing the regular season with a 197.100-196.600 win over Iowa State last Friday,

The same six teams from last week's rankings are again at the top this week, but with two teams exchanging positions. Oklahoma and LSU remain in first and second place, with UCLA and Florida switched places at third and fourth, respectively. Utah and Alabama remain fifth and sixth. Denver is seventh, followed by Georgia, Michigan and Oregon State.

The national rankings this week also are used in determining the seeding for this Saturday's Southeastern Conference Championships. The 2017 SEC Gymnastics Championships will take place Saturday, March 18th at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The top four seeds are LSU (1), Florida (2), Alabama (3) and Georgia (4), and will compete in the evening session scheduled to start at 5 p.m. CT. The SEC's first session is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT, and is comprised of No. 12 Kentucky (5), No. 14 Missouri (6), No. 21 Auburn (7) and No. 26 Arkansas (8).

The Crimson Tide is slated to begin the 2017 SEC Championships on the balance beam before advancing to the floor exercise and vault before finishing on the uneven bars.

UA has been seeded third at the SEC Championships for three consecutive years now, coming away with SEC titles in 2014 and 2015 as well as a runner-up finish in 2016.

As far as national rankings go, Bama is ranked third nationally on the floor exercise, fourth on the vault and balance beam and sixth on the uneven bars.

Alabama junior Kiana Winston is ranked fourth nationally and first in the SEC in the all-around again this week. Winston also placed fifth on the floor exercise, seventh on the balance beam and 23rd nationally on the uneven bars. Junior Nickie Guerrero is ranked No. 3 on the balance beam and 24th on the vault. Senior Aja Sims comes in ninth and freshman Maddie Desch comes in 18th on the floor exercise. Senior Katie Bailey placed No. 18 on the vault.

Alabama Men's Basketball Hosts Richmond Tonight
In First Round National Invitational Tournament Action

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The No. 3 seed University of Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team welcomes the No. 6 seed Richmond Spiders to Coleman Coliseum tonight in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament at 8:15 p.m. CT. UA earned the bid by virtue of making the semifinals of the 2017 Southeastern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament.

This will be the fourth meeting between the Crimson Tide and Spiders, and the first meeting between the two in 28 years. UA leads the series 3-0, with the last meeting coming back in November 1988 when Bama defeated Richmond 54-49 to win the Central Fidelity Classic.

Alabama has played in the NIT 14 times previously. This will be the fifth appearance in the last seven years, with the Tide holding a 24-17 (.585) all-time record in the event.

UA Students To Receive Free Admission To NIT Game Tonight

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Alabama students get a freebie. The UA athletics department announced on Monday that the first 500 students to show up tonight at Coleman Coliseum for the first round game in the National Invitation Tournament will receive free admission, courtesy of Coca-Cola.

Alabama students are asked to come in through the West Entrance of Coleman Coliseum (regular season student entrance) carrying a valid Action Card. Similar to a normal home contest, students will have their Action Card swiped to gain entrance to the contest. All student tickets will be general admission.

Tonight's NIT first round contest begins at 8:15 p.m. CT.

Alabama Women's Basketball Hosts Mercer
In First Round Women's National Invitational Tournament

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Alabama women's basketball team will indeed be in postseason play having earned a spot in the 2017 Women's National Invitation Tournament. The Crimson Tide will host Mercer in the first round of the WNIT on Thursday, March 16th at 7 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum in beautiful Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

General admission tickets are now on sale, and may be purchased for only $5 on RollTide.com. Student admission is free with an Action Card. Tickets will also be available at the men's National Invitational Tournament game tonight. The ticket office, located at the north entrance of Coleman Coliseum, will be open 90 minutes prior to tip off of the women's game on Thursday.

The Crimson Tide (19-13) is one of the 33 teams that were awarded an at-large bid to the tournament, joining the 31 automatic berths to make up this year's 64-team field. The Bears finished the season at 25-6, and made the trip to the SoCon tournament quarterfinals, to earn the automatic bid.

This will be the fourth meeting between Alabama and Mercer, with UA holding a 2-1 advantage. The Bears, however, won the last meeting back in December 2014.

This will be Bama's second consecutive appearance in the WNIT and sixth overall. The Tide also competed in the tournament in 2011 and in three consecutive seasons from 2000-02. Alabama holds a 5-5 record in tournament appearances.

Bama Baseball To Host Eastern Illinois, Samford

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Alabama baseball team welcomes Eastern Illinois to Sewell-Thomas Stadium in beautiful Tuscaloosa, Alabama this afternoon, followed by another home contest with in-state foe Samford on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide and Eastern Illinois Panthers are set for a 3 p.m. CT start, followed by another 3 p.m. start tomorrow between the Tide and Bulldogs. Both of these contests were moved up from an original 6 p.m. CT start due to extremely cold conditions predicted for nighttime both tonight and tomorrow night. Both games can be seen live on SEC Network+ with Eli Gold on play-by-play and Lance Cormier handling color/analysis.
