Alabama Football Begins Spring Practice Today

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Spring practice, 2017 version, begins today for the University of Alabama football team. This will be day one of 15 scheduled workouts, culminating with the A-Day game in Bryant-Denny Stadium on April 22nd.

This will be the first time since the A.J. McCarron era that the Crimson Tide will have a starting quarterback returning the following spring, dating back to 2013. This spring Alabama has Jalen Hurts returning from the 2016 second-ranked Tide. However, there will be a quarterback battle. Don't expect Hurts to lose the starting position, but it could possibly happen. Look, instead, who will be the primary backup for Hurts.

Also for the first time since 2013 Alabama will begin spring practice with a new offensive coordinator. Former New England Patriots tight ends coach Brian Daboll has replaced the departed (FAU head coach) Lane Kiffin. The Tide will also be fielding one of the most complete backfields ever with a stable of horses second-to-none.

Practice is slated for 3:30 p.m. CT today. There will be 16 early enrollees joining the practice today, so many of the Crimson Tide's big-names from the recruiting class of 2017 will be participating, giving Bama a good look at next year's team.
