TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Everyone is aware of the shakeup in the offensive coordinator position for Crimson Tide football and University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban. Bama had the services of now-FAU head football coach Lane Kiffin for three years, and was to continue as the Tide's OC through the national championship game, but that changed and the time-table for the advancement of the newest OC, Steve Sarkisian, was moved up so that he would coach the NC game. Sark then bolted for the same offensive coordinator position with the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL after coaching only the one game.

Who's next?

Reports that circulating report that New England Patriots tight ends coach Brian Daboll will be interviewing with Nick Saban for the open Alabama offensive coordinator position. Daboll has previously served as a graduate assistant (1998-99) under Saban at Michigan State. Since that time Daboll has served as a Patriots defensive assistant and wide receivers coach (2000-06), New York Jets quarterback coach (2007-08), Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator (2009-10), Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator (2011-12) and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator (2012-13). Daboll most recently returned to New England in 2013 to be the tight ends coach.

Other names being tossed about are Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich and former Houston Texans offensive coordinator George Godsey. (Another report is circulating that Saban contacted Yucich on Monday.)

The process continues.

Alabama Swimming & Diving

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee – University of Alabama swimming and diving has opened the first day of the 2017 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in Knoxville with a school record for the women and a runner-up relay finish for the men. The Crimson Tide men are seventh after day one with 119 points while the women are ninth after picking up 87 points.

The Bama women's 200 medley relay consisting of seniors Caroline Korst and Bridget Blood, as well as juniors Hannah Musser and Bailey Scott combined for a school-record 1:37.02, finishing in sixth place and an automatic NCAA standard.

Alabama swimming and diving head coach Dennis Pursley said, "That was a really good start for our women - posting a school record and an NCAA automatic cut. Three out of the four women had lifetime-best splits on that relay."

For the men it was seniors Connor Oslin and Pavel Romanov along with junior Luke Kaliszak and freshman Zane Waddell coming in second place in the men's 200 medley relay with a 1:23.52, a mere .08 back of the Florida Gators. It's also one place better than last year's championships.

Pursley commented, "We got a little bit of a taste of what we did to Cal last year at the NCAA Championships, getting touched out on the last stroke for the relay like that. I can tell you it is a lot more fun on the other end. Zane had a great anchor leg, probably our best leg of the race, but he swam against a guy who is one of just two in the history of NCAA swimming under 18 seconds."

Taking fifth in the men's 800 freestyle relay were Alabama junior Christopher Reid, senior Alex Gray, junior Matthew Adams and sophomore Robert Howard with a time of 6:22.41.

In the women's 800 freestyle relay it was juniors Mia Nonnenberg and Temarie Tomley along with freshmen Cameron Brown and Line Bruun took 11th place with a time of 7:211.24.

Pursley said, "We probably could have and should have been faster on the 800 relays, but hopefully that puts a fire in belly coming back tomorrow. It's the first round of a nine-round fight, so we've got a lot left."

Taking 14th place on the 3-meter springboard was Alabama senior Brent Sagert with 310.85 points. For the Bama women it was senior Kara Fredlock coming in 19th with a 282.05, while sophomore Ayanna Woods came in 24th with 273.20 off the 3-meter springboard.

The Crimson Tide will be back at it this morning with the preliminaries of the men's and women's 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle and women's 1-meter spring board.
