TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Though not as yet confirmed, Huffington Post reporter Jordan Schultz is reporting today that University of Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will be leaving the Crimson Tide in order to take the same position, offensive coordinator, with the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL.

The Falcons are currently searching for a new offensive coordinator as Kyle Shanahan is poised to become the next head coach with the San Francisco 49ers. Though Sarkisian has limited National Football League experience, he does apparently have a past relationship with the Falcons.

Alabama football head coach Nick Saban just this past month named Sarkisian as the new offensive coordinator to replace Lane Kiffin who accepted the head coaching position with FAU. Sarkisian, if he leaves, will have only coached one game for the Crimson Tide as offensive coordinator, and that one being a losing effort to the Clemson Tigers for the national championship.

It's now a done deal.

Nick Saban and the University of Alabama football program will have to find a new offensive coordinator. New Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is leaving The Capstone after less than two months as offensive coordinator to take the Atlanta Falcons' offensive coordinator job, according to an announcement made earlier today by the Atlanta Falcons organization.

Sarkisian replaced Lane Kiffin, who departed for FAU to become the new head coach there, just prior to the national championship football game this past month. Sarkisian will have coached only one football game for the Crimson Tide as offensive coordinator.

Sarkisian will replace Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. Shanahan was just recently named as the San Francisco 49ers' new head coach.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Alabama men's and women's track and field team are looking good in the third U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Rankings of the regular season. The women's team advanced three spots to No. 17 while the men are ranked No. 11 according to the polls released on Monday. The men's squad picked 65.40 points while the women posted 49.00 points.

In regional rankings, the Crimson Tide men remain at the No. 1 spot in the South Region with 331.65 points while the women remain in second with 248.75 points.

Both Bama squads will be in action this weekend with men's & women's distance runners competing at the Iowa State Invitational in Ames, Iowa. The remainder of the two squads will be in Clemson, South Carolina for the Tiger Paw Invitational. Both meets will take place February 10-11.

The national team rankings are compiled by a mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons. The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Ranking points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points.

Alabama Assistant Swim Coach Jonty Skinner
Selected For ASCA Hall Of Fame

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - University of Alabama swimming and diving assistant coach Jonty Skinner has been named to the 2017 class of the American Swim Coaches’ Association (ASCA) Hall of Fame. Though no public announcement has been made as to who makes up the full class, Alabama has made the announcement that Skinner will be officially inducted into the HOF on August 31, 2017.

Skinner is no newcomer to Hall of Fame honors. He was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame back in 1985 when as a swimmer.

The South Africa native came to Alabama in the mid-1970s, winning UA's first individual NCAA title by capturing the victory in the 100 freestyle in 1975, also setting the NCAA record. Only a year later he would break the World Record in the 100 meter freestyle in 1976 at the U.S. National Championships, a record that stood for almost five years.

Skinner's coaching resume begins in 1978, as is every bit as impressive as his swimming resume. He began coaching only one year following his college swimming career.

University of Alabama swimming and diving head coach Dennis Pursley said, "Jonty is one of the most accomplished and respected coaches in our sport. Our professional relationship goes back more than 20 years and our friendship well beyond that. Jonty is not only an exceptional coach but also a great friend and person of the highest integrity."

Skinner is now taking his third term at UA, and currently serves as the associate head coach. He has also spent time as the head coach at the San Jose Aquatics Club, which he led to a team championship at the USA senior nationals and 5 USA junior national titles.

Following Skinner's one year as associate head coach for his long-time mentor Don Gambril in the late 1980s, he took over as head coach in 1990, and was named the SEC Women’s Coach of the Year in 1994, while leading both the men’s and women’s team to top 10 finishes at NCAAs.

He was then named the USA Swimming National Team Director and the first coach of the resident team at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs later that same summer. He held that title for six years before becoming USA Swimming’s Director of Performance Science and Technology for the next eight years. Skinner also held a similar role with British Swimming before returning to the United States.

Skinner’s return to Alabama coincides with Pursley’s hiring, and has again seen a revival of the program. Pursley has focused mainly on the program’s sprint group, where he coached Kristian Gkolomeev to three individual NCAA sprint titles and a title-winning 200 medley relay.

He has been a part of 18 national titles, 20 Olympic medals, 17 Olympic gold medals and two Kipputh Award winners.
