TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of  Alabama men's tennis team was outstanding on Sunday afternoon winning a 5-2 decision over Clemson at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Crimson Tide now improves to an overall 5-2 record on the young season, while Clemson picked up its first loss of the year falling to 7-1.

Alabama men's tennis head coach George Husack said, "After an emotionally and physically draining match on Friday night we had the challenge of coming out with energy and intensity that would exceed that level. Clemson was tough and they came out swinging."

The Tide fought hard in doubles play. Husack commented, "The doubles point was tight. Mazen and Spencer did a great job of keeping their poise and closing it out to give us some juice going into singles play."

Husack was complimentary of his team, and singled out Thibault Cancel in his comments, saying, "We were challenged on all six courts [Sunday], which was important for our growth," said Husack. "I am really impressed with Thibault Cancel. He enjoys tennis and competition just as much as a kid loves candy. His play [yesterday] was inspirational and I'm sure many of the kids in the crowd were impacted by his performance."

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – Despite finding a way to come back from an 11-point deficit, the Alabama women's basketball team was then outscored by an identical 11 points in the final quarter to fall to the LSU Tigers 48-41 on Sunday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge. The Crimson Tide now drops to 15-8 overall, 3-7 against Southeastern Conference competition. The Tigers improve to 16-7 on the season, 5-5 SEC.

Alabama women's head basketball coach Kristy Curry commented, "We've got to play better. Those guys (LSU), down the stretch, were able to find a way to score when we weren't. We didn't make enough plays. The numbers show, and the effort shows. It was a complete inability to seize the moment."

It was Alabama freshmen Jordan Lewis leading the Crimson Tide in scoring with 13 points, followed by Ashley Knight with nine points. Junior Ashley Williams led Bama on the boards with seven.

Curry said, "We didn't really get a lot from anyone but Jordan and AK (Ashley Knight) on a consistent basis. Our junior class has got to help us more. At the end of the day, I'm really disappointed in our inability to show toughness and make plays down the stretch."

The Crimson Tide shot 29.5 percent (13-44), while LSU was 33.3 percent (17-51) from the field. Bama out-rebounded the LSU in yesterday's game, 40-34, but LSU managed a whopping 28 points on Alabama turnovers.

Next up for Alabama is Texas A&M in a contest to be played at College Station, Texas. Game time is 7 p.m. CT and can be seen on SEC Network +.
