COLUMBIA, Missouri - The University of Alabama men's basketball team had to overcome a horrible first half to come back to win last night's contest over the Missouri Tigers at Mizzou Arena in Columbia by a score of 57-54. The Crimson Tide's Dazon Ingram scored 18 points, 15 of which came in the second half, and hauled down nine rebounds to help Alabama to the victory.

For the TideRiley Norris, Braxton Key and Jimmie Taylor each added nine points. The three were able to combine for 19 second-half points. Bola Olanyian was able to pull down a season-high 14 rebounds.

Crimson Tide men's head basketball coach Avery Johnson said, "I think people will ask why I am so excited about this win. It's not just a win [Wednesday night], it's the way we won. Our guys had a tough first half. We couldn't get much going, especially against their zone. We scrapped what we were doing against their zone at halftime. We went more to a man-to-man offensive look and got a couple of easy baskets. I'm so proud of our guys. This was a game we could have easily laid down and quit, because Coach (Kim) Anderson is doing a great job with his team under the circumstances. They've lost double digit games in a row and now they've come back and beat Arkansas and Vanderbilt at home and lost a tough one at Texas A&M. Under the circumstances, he really has his ball club playing at a high level. We rebounded better in the second half, and Braxton Key and Dazon Ingram triggered a comeback with their decision-making and their shot making. A lot of guys on our team deserve credit like Bola, but no more than these two young guys. I'm really proud of our guys, and of these two guys, because they really grew up tonight, especially in the last five to seven minutes of the game."

Alabama shot 36 percent from the field while also leading Mizzou in the rebounding battle by a 39-36 margin. Missouri shot 34 percent from the field, while shooting 21 percent from behind the three-point line. The Tide also improved to 13-0 on the year when holding teams to below 62 points in a game.

The Tide improves to 15-10 , 8-5 Southeastern Conference while Missouri falls to 7-18, 2-11 SEC.

Crimson Tide Softball Defeats South Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Alabama softball team remains undefeated in the young season by defeating South Alabama 3-1 on Wednesday even though the Crimson Tide was out-hit in its home opener.

Alabama (6-0) was out-hit 5-4 by, but two early runs gave Bama the edge and some late insurance provided the Crimson Tide with the two-run victory. Bama's top three batters in order accounted for three of the team's four hits, and Marisa Runyon smacked a fifth-inning solo home run for the final hit of the night for the Tide.

Alabama softball head coach Patrick Murphy said, "At the beginning of the year, I told the team we have to learn to win in a lot of different ways. [Last night], we had to win while being out-hit. We had some key hits though. I thought Runyon was going to get one, she hit two really hard during her first two at-bats and had a great swing. Demi Turner had a hustle-double, Peyton Grantham hit it hard and Elissa Brown caused them to hurry with her speed and got a run all by herself."

Bama's Alexis Osorio (3-0) gave up her first base runner of the season in the fourth inning. She ended the night with one run allowed on five hits and 15 strikeouts while USA starter Devin Brown (2-1) took her first loss of the season with three runs on four hits and four strikeouts.

Next for the Crimson Tide is a trip to Lafayette, Louisiana for a three-game series against 18th-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette (4-2). Game one is set for Friday, February 17th at 5 p.m. CT.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – This Saturday's University of Alabama baseball game has a new start time due to conflicts with the Crimson Tide men's basketball game and the potential for rain on Saturday morning. Saturday's Alabama-Presbyterian College baseball contest is now scheduled for a 5 p.m. CT start at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Saturday's contest was originally set for 2 p.m. CT, but had to be moved in order to avoid weather delays and accommodate fans coming from the basketball game at Coleman Coliseum. Sunday's baseball series finale will remain at the same 1 p.m. CT start as originally scheduled.

This will be the first meeting between Alabama and Presbyterian College. Though it's the first meeting for Bama, it is the 10th for Alabama baseball head coach Greg Goff. Goff is 8-1 all-time against the Blue Hose.
