TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - It's time to get down to the nitty-gritty. Game six of the season is coming up. The University of Alabama football team practiced in full pads for two hours at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields on Tuesday afternoon in preparation for this weekend's important Southeastern Conference Western Division  matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies.

The Crimson Tide is now breaking down individual assignments, and practices are starting to narrow the focus to just what the Aggies have been up to thus far in the season, and changes the Bama coaching staff expects A&M to add in to try to confuse the Tide. The Aggies possess a high-powered offense that currently ranks second in the SEC in total offense.

Both Da'Shawn Hand and Trevon Diggs did not practice for consecutive days. Brandon Kennedy was again working with the first-team offense as center. Jamey Mosley was back working with the linebackers.

Alabama and Texas A&M will battle this Saturday, October 7th at Kyle Field on the campus in College Station. The game will air live on ESPN, with a 6:15 p.m. CT start time set. Calling the game will be Joe Tessitore, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe.

This will be the 10th meeting between the Crimson Tide and Aggies, with Bama leading the all-time series 7-2. Alabama won last year's contest by a score of 33-14 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

Worst Coach In The SEC Poll Ends In A Tie

Don't ask me who the worst coach in the SEC is.
It's obviously not me.

Two days ago I decided to find out what the Twitter college football fans (the vast majority Alabama Crimson Tide fans) about a couple of the Southeastern Conference coaches. One, a team from the SEC Eastern Division, and the second from the SEC West.

The poll question was, "Who is the worst coach in the SEC?

Surprising, the results after two days ended in a tie. The choices were Butch Jones of Tennessee and Ed Orgeron of LSU, with a third choice of "Both are terrible" for those who thought they were pretty much equally as bad.

Here's the results:

Butch Jones  14 percent
Ed Orgeron   14 percent
Both              72 percent

So those who actually had a preference it was a tie at 14 percent each. The "other" category actually declared a tie in itself and came out at 72 percent.

Thank you for participating, and more poll questions will be forthcoming.

Former Alabama offensive coordinator, now FAU head football coach, Lane Kiffin has used his Twitter account to show his Heisman love for University of Alabama starting quarterback Jalen Hurts. On Monday, Kiffin said he cast his “Heisman ballot” for Hurts in an online poll in which many of the Crimson Tide fans have participated.

Kiffin tweeted on Monday:

Of course everyone knows that Kiffin is fond of Hurts, both as a quarterback and as a person, thus it's really not surprising to see the vote he cast. Kiffin served at Alabama's offensive coordinator from 2014 to 2016.

Thus far in the 2017 season, Hurts has completed 57 of 89 passes for 747 yards, including six touchdowns and an impressive zero interceptions.

"Impressed" is one of the words used by Hazel Green 2019 four-star point guard Kira Lewis when it comes to Avery Johnson and his Unversity of Alabama men's basketball team. Lewis likes what he sees that Johnson has done in recruiting for the Crimson Tide.

Lewis paid a visit to The Capstone this past weekend and got a first hand look at not only the basketball program, but was able to enjoy the 66-3 shellacking the football team laid on the Ole Miss Rebels as well.

Concerning Johnson, Lewis said, "It's impressed me with the talent he's recruited. I look forward to seeing them this year, especially after watching them practice."

Lewis is rated as the No. 15 point guard and No. 82 overall player for the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
