TROY, Alabama – It was a high-scoring affair, a lot of back-and-forth and another loss for Crimson Tide baseball.  Alabama and Troy traded leads eight times on Tuesday, and tied the score another two times, as the boys from Bama fell to the Troy Trojans 12-11 on a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth inning. Tide baseball is now 13-16 on the season.

At least one run was scored in eight of the nine innings last night, with each team scoring multiple runs in an inning on more than once. By game's end a total of 23 runs on 25 hits were recorded. The Trojans' one run in the bottom of the ninth proved to be the difference in the Tuesday contest.

Alabama student-athlete Hunter Alexander finished yesterday's contest three-for-four with two home runs, three RBIs, two runs scored as well as a walk. Chandler Avant finished two-for-four with three RBIs, a double and a run scored. Cobie Vance was two-for-five on the day adding an RBI and a run scored, while Tanner DeVinny picked up his fourth home run of the season.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team will once again be about the business of spring practice this afternoon. Today's Bama practice session will be the seventh of the "spring football season," with nine remaining.

One of the strengths of this Crimson Tide team, besides a returning quarterback for the first time since A.J. McCarron, is the running back position, which Alabama football head coach Nick Saban addressed. Saban commented, "We feel one of the strengths of the team is the running back position having the three guys back from last year plus adding a few more that are out there right now that are showing good promise and potential. I think it's one of the strengths of our team and we'll have to find roles for some of those guys because they're some of our best players at that position."

The first scrimmage for the Crimson Tide will be this Saturday, April 8th, inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The scrimmage is closed to the general public. UA will hold a second scrimmage prior to the 2017 A-Day Spring Football Game which is scheduled for Saturday, April 22nd at 2 p.m. CT at Bryant-Denny Stadium in beautiful Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The A-Day Game is scheduled to be broadcast live on ESPN for the second consecutive year, and will once again be free to all Alabama fans. Joe Tessitore, Joey Galloway and Kirk Herbstreit will handle calling the contest, with Laura Rutledge providing additional color analysis and interviews.

A clear bag policy will be in effect for the A-Day contest.

Fans are encouraged not to bring any types of bags inside Southeastern Conference stadiums during football games with the exception of the following:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12";
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar); and
  • Small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand).
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.
  • An approved logo no larger than 4.5" x 3.4" may be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag
  • Fans will continue to be able to carry items allowed into the stadium in a permissible clear bag, such as binoculars and cameras.
