ST. LOUIS, Missouri – They did it again. The University of Alabama Crimson Tide gymnastics team used its third-highest score of the season, a 197.600 in the NCAA Championships Semifinal II to advance to its NCAA-best 23rd Super Six Team Final on Friday night in St. Louis, Missouri. In the 25-year history of the Super Six format, Alabama's 23 berths ranks the most of any other program.

UA gymnastics head coach Dana Duckworth said, "The NCAA Championships are the pinnacle of collegiate gymnastics. It's what we start with even in the summer, preparing us for the opportunity to be here. It never gets old and you can never take it for granted."

The top-three teams from each semifinal session make up this year's Super Six. The Alabama Crimson Tide finished third in its session, with LSU (198.2750) first and Florida (197.8125) coming in second for the Southeastern Conference out of the second semifinal. Nebraska (197.2125) was fourth, followed by Michigan (196.4625) and Georgia (195.8000). From the first semifinal session earlier in the day, Oklahoma, UCLA and Utah advanced to today's final.

"I'm so proud that we have three teams qualifying from the SEC because we do have one amazing conference," Duckworth continued.

Alabama Football Holds Second Scrimmage

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama football team held its second scrimmage of the spring "season" on Friday afternoon inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on a warm sunny afternoon in beautiful Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Running backs Damien Harris and B.J. Emmons  were on the sidelines recovering from previous injuries. Emmons was wearing a walking boot on his left foot. He had offseason surgery on his foot and is expected to make a full recovery. Harris aggravated a foot sprain he got last Saturday. Another one of the running backs, Josh Jacobs dressed out for the contest though he didn't participate in the scrimmage last Saturday because of a thigh bruise.

Alabama Crimson Tide head football coach Nick Saban said, "A lot of good things to look to build on and also some things we certainly need to improve on."

Bama ran approximately 150 plays in the two-hour scrimmage.

Saban continued, "The balance on offense was good. There was good balance between some of the passes, some explosive plays. I thought we ran the ball better and had a couple explosive runs, which there was an absence of a week ago. Defensively, I thought there was a little more juice, but, like I said, I didn't think we tackled as well as we need to.

"I thought the specialists performed really, really well today. The punter and kickers were pretty good. We did block a field goal, which was really good for the defense."

Alabama's 2017 A-Day Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 22nd at 2 p.m. CT inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The A-Day Game is once again free to the public and will be broadcast on ESPN with Joe Tessitore, Joey Galloway and Kirk Herbstreit making the call throughout the contest, with Laura Rutledge providing insight from the sidelines.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Alabama Crimson Tide baseball suffered yet another loss, falling to 14-21 overall, 2-12 in Southeastern Conference play. Bama fell 8-2 to Texas A&M on Friday evening in Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The victory gives the Aggies the series victory over the Crimson Tide.

UA baseball head coach Greg Goff said, "Their guy (Corbin Martin) was very good tonight. He was dominant, and his fastball was coming out of his hand pretty good – that's the kind of guy that this league is full of. There are going to be nights where you run into those guys, and I thought he had really good stuff. I just thought that he beat us tonight."

It was the fourth win of the season for Texas A&M starter Corbin Martin (4-2), picking up his fourth win of the season with 7.0 innings of one-run baseball last night. The Aggie righty allowed four hits while issuing two walks and striking out five Alabama hitters. Crimson Tide starter Dylan Duarte (2-3) was the losing pitcher, tossing 4.1 innings before handing the ball over to his bullpen. Zac Rogers, Mike Oczypok and Sam Finnerty combined to hold the Aggies to only one run over the final 4.2 innings.

Leading the Tide in hitting was Cobie Vance going two-for-four with a double and one RBI. Chandler Avant, Chandler Taylor and Walker McCleney each added one hit apiece, with Avant adding an RBI. Avant and Vance each extended their hitting streaks, with Avant now at nine consecutive and Vance  with a hit in eight straight games.

Today's series finale is set for a 2 p.m. CT start at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Alabama will start senior righty Nick Eicholtz, while Texas A&M calls on sophomore right-hander Stephen Kolek.
