TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The latest college softball polls are out, and University of Alabama softball heads into this week's SEC Tournament ranked No. 15 in the USA Today/NFCA poll and No. 16 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll released earlier today by the SEC office.

The Crimson Tide is down one spot in both polls from the past week's rankings, having fallen to the No. 7/8 Auburn Tigers twice this past week before a series finale 3-2 victory over the Tigers on Sunday. Bama is now 40-15 overall and 12-11 in conference play. Alabama is also ranked No. 14 in the NCAA RPI which was released on Monday.

Alabama isn't the only Southeastern Conference softball team either ranked in this week's top 25, or at least receiving votes in at least one of the polls. The 13 SEC softball teams ranked or receiving votes are Florida (1/1), Auburn (7/8), Tennessee (9/7), Texas A&M (11/11), Alabama (15/16), Kentucky (18/18), Ole Miss (19/19), LSU (21/21), South Carolina (24/23) and Georgia (25/RV). Mississippi State, Arkansas and Missouri are each also collecting votes outside the top 25.

UA softball will open postseason play at the 2017 SEC Softball Tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee on Wednesday at 11 a.m. CT. Bama is the fifth-seed in the tourney and will face Arkansas in the opener. The game will be aired on the SEC Network.

Lane Kiffin On Why Alabama & Nick Saban
Have Such Great Success

Former University of Alabama football offensive coordinator and current FAU head coach Lane Kiffin said that there is an "easy" answer as to why UA football head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are so good, and why no one will be able to catch Saban and Bama when it comes to its football success.

In a recent interview, Kiffin told Al.com that Saban "out-recruits everybody." Kiffin further stated that, "He is relentless at it. It's every day, all year long. Whether it's on the phone, whether it is evaluating guys on film at night at home, he's relentless about developing relationships in recruiting."

Is it any wonder that Kiffin has decided to take "The Process" with him to FAU?

Saban has "better players than anyone else in the country," Kiffin concluded.

Pretty much sounds like a compliment.
