Softball Super Regional All Even
Florida Downs Alabama On Friday Night

GAINESVILLE, Florida – It all comes down to one final game. Unless the Crimson Tide wins, that is. The University of Alabama softball team (46-17) fell to the Florida Gators (54-8) on Friday night 2-0 to even up the Super Regional series to force a third game today in the three-game series. Loser goes home the winner advances.

Florida senior starting pitcher Delanie Gourley (21-4) took the win. Sydney Littlejohn (17-9) accepted the loss. She held the Gators to just five hits, but one of those five happened to be two-run home run by Amanda Lorenz, which proved to be the difference. The home run broke Bama's scoreless innings streak at 31.1 innings, going all the way back to game one of the NCAA Regional.

The final game of the series will be this afternoon at 4 p.m. CT and will be aired live on ESPN.

Alabama Sits At 1-Under Par 287 After
Opening Round Of 2017 NCAA Men's Golf Champions

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – The University of Alabama men's golf team finished the opening round of the 2017 NCAA Men's National Championships at 1-under par 287 yesterday. Crimson Tide junior Jonathan Hardee carded a 3-under par 69 to lead the Tide.

Alabama men's golf head coach Jay Seawell said, "I am very proud of our guys and the way we played today. We really got off to a great start over our first five or six holes and got ourselves right into the flow of this year's national championship. We did a great job to shoot under par today on a championship venue. I am pleased with how we played. I love how this golf course has changed in the 10 years since I was last here. It's in great shape, it's a great test and it rewards great shots. If you don't hit good shots, then you're going to have some high-scoring holes. Those are the things we have to straighten out a little bit. We need to execute just a little bit better tomorrow, but we have the right attitudes to do just that and I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the second round."

Considering the gusty winds throughout the day yesterday, then followed with the heavy rains in the afternoon, 15 teams that took the tee were unable to complete the round and will have to finish the round this morning. Alabama was one of only three teams to complete the course. Auburn and Ole Miss were the other two, with the Tigers currently leading.

The 23rd-seed Crimson Tide will begin today's second round off Hole No. 1 at 1:30 p.m. CT.

The NCAA Championships will have three rounds of stroke play for the 30-team field, with a cut to 15 teams after 54 holes. Those 15 teams will then be cut to eight teams after a fourth round of stroke play. The eight teams will then begin three rounds of match play for the national title (1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5), which is slated to be held on May 30-31.
