TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - For the first time since 2014, University of Alabama head football coach coach Nick Saban could, and most likely will, receive a change. The UA board of trustee's compensation committee will meet today discuss and probably approve new contracts for Saban, his six returning assistant coaches, the three new ones as well as Scott Cochran. Also being discussed will be the initial contract for new UA Director of Athletics Greg Byrne.

Saban's last revised contract came in 2014, and is good through 2021 to the tune of $6.9 million annually. Yes, truly the six million dollar man. And it should get even sweeter today.

Alabama assistants will be (again, more than likely) raises. According to USA Today, Crimson Tide assistant coaches are the third highest paid in college football. The nine on-field Bama coaches combined for a $5.3 million annual salary, second behind LSU.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Alabama Crimson Tide track & field teams held steady in this week's national and regional rankings. The UA men remain at No. 5 and the women remain at No. 10 in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Rankings. The rankings were released on Monday. The men's team came in with 200.09 points while the women's team picked up 151.69 points. Regionally, the men are ranked first in the South region for the fourth consecutive week, while the women remain third for the third week in a row.

These national team rankings are compiled by a mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons. The purpose and methodology of the rankings are to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Ranking points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points.

Up next for the Crimson Tide will be at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships scheduled for May 11-13 at the University of South Carolina.

He was born in Birmingham, Alabama 62 years ago, and today is the head football coach at Duke University. In fact, David Cutcliffe has just received a contract extension through June 2021 to keep him around. Prior to his arrival in Durham, North Carolina, Duke football had only won four football games in four years. Now they've won many more.

Cutcliffe holds a 52-61 record with the Duke Blue Devils, a very respectable record at a "basketball school." And he has been rewarded with that new contract, announced just yesterday by Duke Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White.

In a press release, White said, "Simply put, Duke University is terribly honored and very proud to have one of the truly pinnacle football coaches in the country leading the Blue Devil program into the next decade. With David’s innovation, vision, passion, not to mention well-seasoned expertise, our student-athletes will continue to enjoy, both academically and athletically, the very best experience within the broader enterprise that is college football."

Congratulations to Birmingham native, David Cutcliffe. But, uhh, Roll Tide!
