TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The University of Alabama softball team took a one-run victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional. The Crimson Tide needed nine innings to to pick up the 1-0 win, with neither team able to score until a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth gave Bama the win.

The Tide (44-16) now advances to its 15th-consecutive NCAA Regional final, playing for a regional championship every single season since 2003. Alabama's NCAA Regional win streak also extends to 33 games, last losing in a regional contest back in 2007. The 1-0 shutout victory over the Golden Gophers (55-4) is the 25th of the season for the Bama pitching staff, and is only one shy of the single-season school record.

Alabama's Alexis Osorio (22-7) picks up the win, while Minnesota's Sara Groenewegen (30-3) suffered the loss. Osorio allowed only two hits over 9.0 shutout innings with 11 strikeouts. Demi Turner accounted for two of Alabama's four hits batting ninth. Turner was two-for-three on the day. Reagan Dykes earned the game-winning RBI on a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning. Chandler Dare and Bailey Hemphill went one-for-four in the contest.

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The 2017 University of Alabama baseball regular season has come to an end with a 3-3 tie. The three-game series with the Vanderbilt Commodores saw the Crimson Tide falling in the first two contests by huge, double-digit margins, but Bama managed a tie in the finale by virtue of rain washing out the remainder of the contest being played at at Hawkins Field in Nashville. UA finishes its regular season at 19-34-1 overall and 5-24-1 in Southeastern Conference play.

In his first-ever career start, Alabama pitcher Garrett Suchey picked up the win with a season-long 105 pitches. The junior allowed just two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out a season-high seven batters. The only two runs Suchey gave up were on an RBI-triple and a solo home run.

Chandler Taylor, Cody Henry and Sam Finnerty all individually finished one-for-three with a run scored, while Taylor added his team-leading 16th home run of the season. Henry and Finnerty both picked up a double on the day, with Connor Short also adding a double as part of his one-for-three day that included an RBI.
