MONTREAL, Canada – The University of Alabama men's basketball team is visiting our neighbor's north of border to enjoy a summer Canadian tour. The tour, however, has a measure of business involved as well. And the Crimson Tide took care of business, cruising to a 96-57 win on Monday night against the McGill Redmen in the first game of UA's Canadian Tour. It was freshman John Petty led Alabama with a game high 22 points, including hitting six-of-eight three-pointers en route to the 39-point win.

Bama junior guard Ar'Mond Davis picked up 14 points off the bench, while sophomore forward Daniel Giddens and freshman guard Collin Sexton both pumped in 13 points apiece. Get this, including Giddens, the Crimson Tide's six newbies combined for 57 of the team's 96 points in the contest.

Alabama men's basketball head coach Avery Johnson said, "Overall it was extremely positive. We had unbelievable energy throughout the game. Our guys moved the ball and we made some shots. I thought we played really good defense. We clamped down on them defensively, so I am pleased with the overall energy and passion that we played with.

"In the first half, I thought we did a great job with our pace. We set great screens and our guys had great spacing on offense, which allowed John to hit some shots. In the second half, we got really sloppy. That gives me something to talk to the team about and show them some video. We have really good kids on our team who want to play the right way. We had some correctable mistakes tonight and we can learn from those."

Braxton Key collected eight points and a team-high five boards in the contest, as every Alabama player who saw action scored at least two points on Monday night.

Johnson continued, "We wanted to give everybody a chance to play. We had a chance to spread out the minutes because we are playing three games in four nights. We want to try and impose our will against teams. We were a little sloppy and need to take better care of the basketball, then we will have chances to score even more points."

Bama finished the game shooting 34-of-57 (60 percent) from the field as well as hitting 14-of-25 (56 percent) from three-point land, while holding the Redmen to just 33 percent (19-of-58) shooting from the floor and 23 percent (7-of-30) from beyond the arc. Alabama led in rebounds 34-25, while Bama's bench outscored McGill's bench 43-17.

The Crimson Tide will leave Montreal for Ottawa this morning and will return to action when they play Carleton on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.

NORCO, California - The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football program picked up its 10th commitment for the class of 2018. He is offensive guard Jarrett Bell, who chose Bama over Arizona, Fresno State, Washington State and several others. The three-star lineman impressed the Tide coaching staff last month at camp, then yesterday announced his commitment.

The 6' 5, 295-pounder is a huge addition to this year's recruiting class. Though having only played his high school position a few months, Bell is expected to really add to the team when he arrives after this coming season. He plans to register at Alabama this coming January.

Jarret, though very large, carries only 14 percent body fat, and the 40-yard dash? Oh, he can run a sub-five second time! He has a 4.4 shuttle time as well.

The big boy can squat 550 pounds, deadlift 525 pounds, bench 405 pounds as well as rep 225 pounds 18 times. Strong. And he has heart. Steps up, not afraid to lead. Is highly coachable. Now, a Bama man.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Bell is rated as the No. 24 guard and No. 487 overall player in the country.
