KENNESAW, Georgia – A late rally Thursday night by Kennesaw State wasn't near enough to overtake the Alabama Crimson Tide women's soccer team in Kennesaw, Georgia. The 22nd-ranked Tide handed the Owls its first defeat on their home field by a score of 3-1, advancing UA's season record to 6-1. It was three Bama players, Abbie Boswell, Taylor Morgan and Chloe Maize, all scoring one goal each to pace the Tide.

University of Alabama head soccer coach Wes Hart commented, "I am pleased with the result of the game. Anytime you can go on the road and win, especially against a team that was undefeated with four wins and two draws, is very good. Kennesaw State has been stingy defensively, only allowing a couple of goals with four shutouts in a row. For us to go into Kennesaw State and score three goals and create a bunch of other chances, I leave here feeling very good."

It was Kat Stratton at net picking up her sixth win of the season, saving three shots on goal in the contest. Boswell took six shots, three SOG and scored one goal' Morgan had four shots, one SOG and scored one goal; Maize took two shots, two SOG and scored one goal and Emma Welch was a big contributor as well providing a pair of assists.

Alabama will welcome Tennessee Tech to The Capstone on Sunday, September 10th at 5 p.m. CT. Sunday's game will be broadcasted live on SEC Network +.

What Saban Said

File photo UA Athletics

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Last night's Hey Coach with University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban was a mishmash of fun, football and entertainment. Here's a brief description of what happened.

From the entertainment side, Saban talked about being in the move Blind Side, and said he didn't want to wear LSU gear because when the movie was made he was already the coach of the Crimson Tide. He wore regular clothes, if you recall. He really didn't even want to be in the movie, but did it as a favor.

Moving to the sports end of things, Saban said there are no plans to move defensive end Da'Shawn Hand to outside linebacker. He did say, however, that Hand could play as an outside pass rusher in the team's dime package.

Saban mentioned a pair of injuries. He said that he hoped that Rashaan Evans (groin) and Anfernee Jennings (ankle) would be back in the next couple of weeks.

Saban said that this is the first time in his coaching career that he has lost three players in the same position (outside linebacker).

The coach mentioned that LaBryan Ray and Chris Allen may have redshirted this season had it not been for the injuries in last week's game with Florida State.

Saban also stressed the fact he wanted fans to show up at every game. He spoke of LSU and Auburn as always being in demand but the team needed fan support at all contests.
