University of Alabama starting pitcher Nick Eicholtz will be returning for the 2017 baseball season. Eicholtz was selected in the 13th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft this past month and has decided to remain with the Crimson Tide for this coming season.

Alabama baseball head coach Greg Goff commented, "We are excited to get the great news that Nick is returning for his senior year here at Alabama. He will be one of the best arms in our league during the 2017 season. For a young man to put off his childhood dreams to come back and lead our team and pitching staff says a lot about his character and his experience at the Capstone thus far."

Eicholtz said, "I would like to thank the Miami Marlins organization for giving me the opportunity to achieve my dream. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to return to The University of Alabama for my senior season. In doing this, I will have the opportunity to grow, not only as a player but also as a person. I am looking forward to being an instrumental part of the 2016-17 roster and helping lead this team through what will hopefully be a memorable year."

The Marlins selected Eicholtz in the draft after a three-year career with the Crimson Tide in which he went 10-6 with a 2.91 ERA (46 ER/142.1 IP). He made 39 total mound appearances, making 26 starts, and has struck out 103 batters.

Paul Finebaum has made his selection for the 2016 Southeastern Conference Championship Game. When asked on ESPN's College Football Live, Finebaum responded with Alabama representing the SEC West and Tennessee representing the SEC East.

Though The University of Alabama plays the Vols every season, they have never met in the SEC Championship Game. Tennessee has won only two Southeastern Conference Championship games, the last one in 1998, while The Crimson Tide has won six, with the last one being just last season.

The Crimson Tide and the Volunteers will play this year's regular season game at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee on October 15th.

The University of Alabama has instituted a new clear bag policy for all Crimson Tide football games at Bryant-Denny Stadium beginning this fall.

Alabama is making these changes for the increased protection of fans and to make game day a more rewarding and enjoyable experience. The University has modified its security policy by limiting the size and style of bags allowed into the stadium. Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to, the following: all purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch purse (4½" x 6½"), coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases (binoculars may be worn around the neck), diaper bags and seat cushions with pockets zippers or compartments.

All those entering must follow the guidelines to be approved for entry into the stadium. Bags or purses must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC, and cannot exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches in size. Small, one-compartment, clutch purses that do not exceed 4½ inches by 6½ inches (with or without a handle or strap) also will be permitted. All bags will be subject to inspection at the gate and may be subject to additional inspection inside the stadium.

An exception will be made for medical necessary items after proper inspection at specified stadium gates. All ticketed guests (except North/South Zone, North/South Field Suite, & students) needing medical bag exceptions must enter through Gate 8 or Gate 44. If you have a medical bag exception and have a North Zone/North Field Suite ticket, you must enter at Gate 3. If you have a medical bag exception and have a South Zone/South Field Suite, or student ticket, you must enter at Gate 27.
All Tide Pride members will receive one clear bag for every two Tide Pride season tickets purchased in their amenity mailing in August.
