Men's Golf In 6th After Opening Round In Vegas; Bama Diver Brent Sagert Qualifies For NCAA Championships; 11 From Miami Regional Opening Considering Bama Football; Bama Softball Hosts Samford Tonight

Crimson Tide Men's Golf In 6th Place After Round 1

The fourth-ranked Alabama men's golf team currently is at sixth place after the opening day of the 2016 Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters being hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bama had a combined team score of 294 yesterday and is only three strokes behind the overall leaders heading into today's second round.

Freshman DAVIS RILEY led the Tide with an even par 72 yesterday and will begin the second round today tied for 10th overall. Senior TOM LOVELADY is only one stroke behind Riley with a 1-over par 73 and a tie for 16th.

The second round begins this morning at 10:50 a.m. CT off hole number one.

Bama Diver Brent Sagert Qualifies For NCAA Championships

In the first day of the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in Atlanta, Georgia Alabama's BRENT SAGERT put in a sixth place finish on the 3-meter board to earn his first birth at the NCAA Championships. 

Sagert, a junior out of St. Albert, Canada was in fifth place after the preliminary round of dives to advance to the finals with 372.80 points. He came back in finals to score 372.90 over his last six dives to reach a combined score of 745.70 points, earning him sixth place overall and one of Zone B’s 10 NCAA Championship slots available in the 3-meter competition.

11 From Miami Regional Opening Considering Bama


Here is a look at some of the top prospects at the Miami Opening Regional considering the University of Alabama football according to 247Sports. The event was held Sunday at American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida.

TRAJAN BANDY is a four-star 2017 cornerback recruit out of Miami/Columbus. He is ranked as the No. 28 cornerback in the country by the 247Sports.com Composite Rankings. Bandy is planning to visit Oklahoma, Clemson, Alabama as well as Auburn this summer despite a verbal commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners. He lists the Clemson Tigers as his second favorite.

KADEEM TELFORT is a three-star 2017 offensive tackle out of Miami/Norland. He is currently ranked as the No. 46 offensive tackle in the country by 247Sports.com. He has stated that he is a solid pledge to the Florida Gators, but that Alabama, Miami and LSU are working him hard. He has LSU listed as his second choice.

DANIEL WRIGHT is a four-star 2017 safety out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida/Cardinal Gibbons. He is rated by 247Sports.com as the No. 8 safety in the country and says that Florida State is currently in the lead for his services. Wright plans to visit Alabama, Clemson, FSU, LSU, Florida, Auburn and Miami this summer. He says he will wait until National Signing Day next year to announce his decision.

TYLER DUNNING is a four-star recruit out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida/St. Thomas Aquinas. He is ranked as the No. 8 linebacker in the nation by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings. Dunning says he is hearing the most from Alabama, Kentucky, Pitt and Tennessee. He is looking to visit all four schools this summer.

JERRY JEUDY is a four-star wide receiver out of Deerfield Beach, Florida and is listed by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings as the No. 7 wide receiver in the country. He says that Alabama and Miami are going after him the hardest. Jeudy says he still has a Top 10 and is planning to visit most of those programs this summer. He said he isn't sure as yet when he will make his decision public. The Alabama Crimson Tide is believed to be in the lead for his services.

CHRISTOPHER HENDERSON is a four-star cornerback recruit out of Miami/Columbus. 247Sports.com Composite Rankings has him as the No. 20 athlete in the country, and appears to be a solid Miami commit. However, he does plan to visit Alabama, West Virginia, Florida and LSU this summer.

TYSON CAMPBELL is a four-star recruit out of Plantation, Florida/American Heritage. He is listed by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings as the No. 4 cornerback in the nations. Clemson was the first to make him and offer and definitely has Campbell's interest. But he has said he also has high interest in Alabama, LSU, Florida, Florida State and Miami.

PATRICK SURTAIN, JR. is ranked as the nation's No. 3 cornerback for 2018 by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings and is out of Plantation, Florida/American Heritage. Though LSU is in the lead for his services, Surtain says that Alabama, Miami, Florida and Florida State are also of high interest to him. He plans to visit them all this summer.

JERRY DRAKE, JR. is a three-star recruit out of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and is ranked as the nation's No. 85 offensive tackle by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings. Drake currently holds eight offers, listing Alabama, LSU and Florida State as schools holding high interest for him. He said he'd like to receive an offer from Florida, Wisconsin and Iowa as well.

TEDARRELL SLATON is a four-star offensive tackle recruit out of Plantation, Florida/American Heritage. 247Sports.com Composite Rankings lists him as the No. 6 offensive tackle in the country. Slaton recently visited Michigan and lists them as a big contender for his services. He also expressed high interest in Alabama as well as Florida State.

De'ANDRE WILDER is an outside linebacker recruit out of Opa Loca, Florida/Carol City. He is listed as the nation's No. 20 outside linebacker by the 247Sports.com Composite Rankings. Though he lists Miami as his leader, he plans to also visit Alabama, LSU, and West Virginia before making his decision this coming fall. He is thought to be a toss-up between Alabama and Miami at this point.

Bama Softball Faces Samford Tonight

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide women's softball team (20-2) will host Samford (11-7) tonight at 7:30 p.m CT at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama leads the series with Samford 20-2 and is currently riding a 20-game win streak against their in-state opponents. The last meeting was in 2013 with the Tide taking an 11-0 win in just five innings.
