The 38th-ranked Alabama women's tennis team (4-5, 0-1 SEC) lost their first Southeastern Conference contest of the season yesterday to the ninth-ranked LSU Tigers (12-3, 1-0 SEC) falling by a score of 4-3.

Tide head coach JENNY MAINZ said, "I want to credit LSU. They came out here ready to work. I thought they rebounded well after the doubles point. But we have to be able to take our opportunities when we get them. We were a little bit hesitant. We’ve talked about trusting our swings and trusting our plays and playing the big points to win them. I don’t think we grabbed opportunities that we needed to grab, especially in a match that was that close. Honestly, that was probably the difference."

Mainz when on to say that even tough they didn't win the match, "we did a lot of things really well. We competed really well. We have to build on this and get ready for Saturday.

Alabama faces its second top-15 opponent of the week in the 14th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies. The match is scheduled for noon CT this Saturday, March 5th in Tuscaloosa.
