Alexis Osorio Named SEC Pitcher Of The Week

UA Softball Pitcher Alexis Osorio

Osorio.

A name you have heard time and again since last season. A name you will continue hear.

University of Alabama sophomore pitcher ALEXIS OSORIO was named the SEC Pitcher of the the Week yesterday by the Southeastern Conference.

Osorio was impressive as usual this past week, collecting three wins at the Easton Bama Bash. Two of those contests were complete-game victories over 15th-ranked Arizona and 14th-ranked Tennessee. All-in-all she struck out 20 batters over 16.0 innings pitched in those three games, including only allowing seven walks. On Friday she allowed Arizona just three hits while striking out eight batters in the Tide's 4-3 victory. Then on Saturday she pitched two shutout relief innings against Marshall while allowing just one hit. Then she struck out nine batters to help lead the win against 14th-ranked Tennessee. She was then named to the Easton Bama Bash All-Tournament Team for her impressive resume for the weekend.

Though she was named the SEC Freshman of the Year last season, this is the first career SEC weekly honor for Osorio.

Mike Locksley Headed To Alabama

Mike Locksley
New UA Football Offensive Analyst

It is being reported by AL.com that former Maryland offensive coordinator Mike Locksley is going to the University of Alabama as an offensive analyst.

For the past four seasons Locksley has served as Maryland's offensive coordinator, and even took over as interim head coach for six games last season when head coach Randy Edsall was fired. Locksley and new Maryland head coach talked about Locksley remaining but no agreement was forthcoming.

The 46-year old Locksley also served as quarterbacks during his four years with the Terrapins. As interim head coach he was 4-6. Locksley also served previously as head coach for New Mexico from 2009 - 2011. He had coached at the FBS level since 1996.

His addition to the Crimson Tide staff should enhance recruiting efforts in the Washington, D.C. area. Many say he was the D.C. area's top recruiter.
