3 State Of Alabama FB Players Headed North; Football Recruiting Update; Looking At Alabama Football National Championships; Sims & Scarbrough Injury Update

3 State Of Alabama Players Headed To Michigan

This one is a little different. Oh, it involves Alabama football players...STATE of Alabama football players. Alabama players leaving the state of Alabama...for Michigan.

Exactly what the Southeastern Conference was trying to keep from happening is happening. Jim Harbaugh, head football coach at Michigan, has picked up three commitments from the state of Alabama. He picked up one of them after holding one of the heavily-disputed football camps. This camp was held at Prattville High School in Prattville, Alabama.

6' 1", 215-pound Dytarious Johnson committed to Michigan following the camp. The outside linebacker received an offer on Saturday after the Friday camp and accepted shortly after. Running back Kingston Davis has also committed, and the other is quarterback Keith Washington who signed with Michigan back in February.

Football Recruiting Update

University of Alabama football recruiting continues to click along. As mentioned this past week the Tide picked up some big names in quarterback Jalen Hurts, receiver D.D. Bowie, offensive lineman Netori Johnson, offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood, and offensive tackle Charles Baldwin.

Bama issued several offers, also. Saturday was the Tide's specialist camp, and an offer was extended to Eddie Pineiro.

An earlier Bama offer to Jaquan Yulee, a four-star linebacker out of Chesapeake, Virginia could possibly come to fruition later today. Yulee is scheduled to announce at 5:30 PM CDT. Bama is one of five that has a chance to get him.

Three in-state linebackers are on the Crimson Tide's radar. Things look good at picking up one or all. They are Ben Davis out of Gordo, Erroll Thompson out of Florence, and Lyndell Wilson out of Montgomery.

Alabama is expecting an unofficial visit from a Texas A&M commitment. He is five-star offensive tackle Greg Little, and is to be on campus Tuesday.

Looking At Alabama Football National Championships

The University of Alabama lays claim to 15 National Championships in football. We're going to take a short look at each one, year-by-year and one per day.

While the NCAA doesn't officially recognize national champions, it does provide a partial listing of the champions as listed by various organization. That includes more than one team in the same year, as was the case many times in years past.

It should be noted that, while Alabama claims 15 national titles in football, the Official NCAA Football Records Book actually cites five additional Alabama championships. Those are in the years 1945, 1962, 1966, 1975, and 1977.

Alright, today we start with the first national championship Bama earned in football. We go all the way back to 1925. The Crimson Tide was coached by Wallace Wade when winning the first championships. Bama won the Southern Conference that year, completed the regular season with an unblemished 9-0-0 record, and was invited to play Washington in the January 1, 1926 Rose Bowl. The Tide won that game 20-19, finishing the season at 10-0-0. Outstanding player of the game was Johnny Mack Brown, who had become a household name in Alabama and would soon become so nationally. This national championship was awarded to Alabama by Football Annual and the Helms Athletic Foundation.

Cam Sims & Bo Scarbrough Injury Update

Questions pop up on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites asking about the status of two of Bama's injured...Cam Sims and Bo Scarbrough. Alabama head football coach Nick Saban recently addressed that very subject.

Saban said both are doing well in their rehabilitation involving the torn anterior cruciate ligaments. Both were injured back during spring practices.

The 6' 2", 240-pound Scarbrough was injured on the first day of spring practice and was looking to get some serious playing time as backup to starting running back Derrick Henry

Sims was injured back in late March and was looking good at one of the starting wide receiver jobs.

Saban says it's still a little too early to tell when either will be able to come back. He says they won't put the players at risk, and it will be a purely medical decision as to when they return.
