The 2016 edition of the University of Alabama soccer team under second year head coach Wes Hart is gearing up for the 2016 season. Hart has announced the schedule for the upcoming season, with the Tide playing eight home matches at the Alabama Soccer Complex and 10 games on the road.
Concerning home attendance, conference and non-conference games Hart said, "I'm excited that we will be kicking off the 2016 season at home. Last year, we had some great home crowds early in the season. I'm
hopeful that we will be able to draw even more fans out in 2016. We
will need the support as we host some quality opponents both in and out
of conference. It will be interesting to see what kinds of crowds we are
able to get for our SEC games, as the majority of them have moved to
Thursday nights, as opposed to Fridays."
The Crimson Tide will be playing six of its first nine matches
on the road. Alabama opens with two exhibition contests, with the
first schedued for August 11th on the Plains at Auburn, with the other at home against Troy set for August 14th. Bama will open this season with a home matchup against Sam Houston State on August 19th, followed by 2015 NCAA tournament
participant Murray State on August 21st. The Tide will then close out the
month of August with a contest with Campbell on August 26th at home before hitting the
road to face Chattanooga on August 28th.
Talking about the 2016 soccer season, Hart said, "Our non-conference schedule will be very challenging. We face three teams that qualified for the NCAA tournament. We will also travel up the road to Birmingham to face Samford, a team that was a penalty kick shootout away from advancing to the NCAA tournament."
The month of September begins with a pair of games in the state of Florida for the Crimson Tide. Alabama will travel to Tampa to take on the University of South Florida on September 1st, then pay a visit to Fort Myers to face its second 2015 NCAA tournament team in Florida Gulf Coast University on September 4th.
Hart let it be known that the road wasn't the only place stiff competition would occur. He continued, "We've got a brutal road stretch after opening the first three games at home. However, it will be nice for some of our players to play in front of their hometown fans in Chattanooga, Tampa and Birmingham. We also end the season with a very difficult road trip at Florida and at LSU, both of whom qualified for the NCAA tournament last season."
Bama begins the conference schedule on September 9th on the road in Knoxville with the Tennessee Volunteers. The Tide will then close out its non-conference schedule on September 13th with a short trip to Birmingham to play the Samford Bulldogs.
The final 10 conference contest will be split between Tuscaloosa and the road, facing the Arkansas Razorbacks (September 22nd), Texas A&M (September 25th), Ole Miss (October 6th), Georgia (October 13th) and Vanderbilt (October 27th) at home. The Tide will travel to Kentucky (September 18th), Mississippi State (September 30th), Missouri (October 9th), Florida (October 20th) and LSU (October 23rd).
The 2016 Southeastern Conference Volleyball Tournament is scheduled for October 31-November 6, and will be played in Orange Beach, Alabama for the 11th consecutive season.

University of Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagvailoa really strutted his stuff this past weekend at the Elite 11 finals. In fact, some are saying he had the best weekend of any of the 24 quarterbacks there.
Tagovailoa's throws are fluid, strong, and the young man is decisive, exactly what Alabama head coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin look for in a field general.
He is 100% committed to the University of Alabama.

Alabama Crimson Tide football will be without the services of one of its top recruits. Four-star defensive tackle Kendell Jones out of Shoemaker High School in Killeen, Texas failed to qualify academically and will be be enrolling at the University of Alabama this year. He, in fact, began classes on Monday at an undisclosed junior college according to SEC Country.
The report states that it is as yet unclear whether Jones will be needing one or two years at the junior college level to be eligible to play NCAA football. The importance of that being if two years then Jones has the freedom to play football for any team in the country. One year means he remains bound to the Crimson Tide by virtue of his signed national letter of intent.
According to Jones' father, the problem was a testing issue. The elder Jones says his son missed the cut by four points.
Alabama head football coach Nick Saban alluded to the fact that one player had not yest qualified. It appears Jones was the player of whom he was referring.
The "Hulk", as he is nicknamed, stands 6' 7" and weighs in at 375 pounds. He selected Alabama over LSU, Texas A&M, Texas and Baylor. According to 247Sports he was the No. 12 defensive tackle in the country and the No. 14 prospect in the state of Texas last year.
