The two young women have been mentioned time and again in connection with Alabama women's tennis. It's usually associated with great play or school, conference and national titles. Now junior Erin Routliffe and freshman Andie Daniell have both been selected to the field of 64 in the NCAA singles championship. This is the fifth time in Alabama women's tennis history that the Crimson Tide has been represented. All matches will take place at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma from May 25th - 30th.
This will be the second consecutive appearance in the singles championship for Routliffe. She advanced to the round of 32 last year. Daniell is the first Alabama freshman to make the cut since Alexa Guarachi in 2010.

Lovett & Mazen Represent Men's Tennis In NCAAs

University of Alabama men's tennis will be represented again this year in the NCAA singles and doubles championships. In fact, this is the fifth consecutive season a member or members of Alabama men's tennis will participate. This year the Tide will be represented by sophomore Korey Lovett and freshman Mazen Osama. All matches will take place at the case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma from May 25th through May 30th.
The Alabama duo will enter the national tournament as a No. 5-8 overall seed which gives them Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America honors. This gives Alabama men's tennis head coach George Husack hi third set of doubles All-Americans in the last four years.
Osama will not only be competing in the doubles competition but will also be part of
the singles tournament. Osama was chosen as an at-large selection to the
field of 64, and is the first Alabama freshman to make the cut since
two-time All-American Francisco Rodriguez did so in 1997.
Draws for both tournaments will be announced at a later date.

Shelton & Riley Make All-Conference Golf Team

This is the third consecutive season that Shelton has received first team honors, making him only the fourth golfer in Alabama golf history to do so. He joins Steve Lowery (1981-83), Bud Cauley (2009-11), Cory Whitsett (2011-14) and Bobby Wyatt (2012-14).
Shelton is no stranger to honors. He was selected as a semifinalist for both the Ben Hogan award and Jack Nicklaus award, has claimed three individual titles this season, giving him a program record seven medalist honors in his career, and enters NCAA Regional play ranked ninth in the nation according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. Additionally, Shelton has finished among the top 20 in eight of the nine tournaments in which he has played this season and now has 29 top-20 results in 31 career tournaments played at Alabama.
With Riley's addition to the all-freshman team Alabama now has three consecutive seasons for this honor. Shelton was named in 2014 while Johnathan Hardee was named in 2015. He is the ninth Alabama golfer over the past seven seasons to earn a spot on the league’s all-freshman team. Riley currently ranks second on the team with a stroke average of 71.80. As one of just two UA golfers to have competed in all 10 events (Tom Lovelady), Riley has four top-10 finishes and seven top-20 results this season, punctuated by a fourth-place result at the Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational last fall.

NCAA Women's Golf Regional Begins Today

It begins today.
The Alabama women's golf team will open play as
the No. 1 seed in the 2016 NCAA Women's Golf Regional held in Shoal
Creek, Alabama this morning. The three-day 54-hole regional continues through Saturday May 7th, and will be hosted by The University of Alabama
at the Shoal Creek Club.
The Crimson Tide has captured two NCAA Regionals in the last five seasons. The Tide won the 2011 NCAA East Regional at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, and the 2013 NCAA East Regional at the Auburn University Club in Auburn, Alabama. In 2015, Alabama tied for fourth at the NCAA Raleigh Regional at the Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Alabama has three student-athletes returning from last season's regional lineup. Senior Emma Talley, who finished 7th, sophomore Lakareber Abe, who tied for 15th and senior Janie Jackson, who tied for 30th. This year they will be joined by freshman Cheyenne Knight and sophomore Nicole Morales.
Talley is currently ranked as the No. 10 female player in the country in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index released on April 25. Knight (14), Abe (16) and Jackson (23) are also in the Top 25.
Of the 16 teams in the regional, 12 teams are currently ranked in the Top 50 of the April 26 Golfstat rankings, including four teams ranked in the top 20. No. 2 seed Northwestern (8th nationally), No. 3 Oklahoma State (9), No. 4 California (16) and No. 5 Iowa State (17) round out the top five seeds at Shoal Creek.
The remainder of the field includes 6. Florida State (22); 7. Tennessee (25); 8. Missouri (32); 9. Purdue (36); 10. Notre Dame (40); 11. Vanderbilt (41); 12. Clemson (47); 13. Michigan (50); 14. Middle Tennessee State; 15. New Mexico State; 16. Eastern Kentucky; 17. Oakland (Mich.); 18. Alabama State.
Alabama will tee off at 9:09 am CT this morning. Tee times on Friday and Saturday are TBD.

Coaches come after Alabama commitments and Bama does the same. All teams go through, keeping a few and losing a few.
Adama Gorney of Rivals.com reports that four-star wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, Jr., son of the NFL wideout, Johnson, Sr., will be meeting with University of Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin sometime today.
Johnson is a 2017 commit to the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers but appears to be interested in the Crimson Tide, thus the meeting.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, Johnson, Jr. is the No. 34 wide receiver in the 2017 class.
