The series dates back to 1894, but one of the teams went by a different name back then. Alabama baseball returns home to Sewell-Thomas Stadium tonight for its final non-conference contest of the regular season, hosting Samford, formerly Howard College. The game is part of a four-game homestand as the Crimson Tide winds down the 2016 regular season. This 103rd meeting of the two teams begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will air live on SECN+.

The Crimson Tide holds the series lead 89-13, which includes a 72-7 mark in Tuscaloosa. Earlier in the season the Bulldogs defeated the Tide 3-2. Bama has won four consecutive home contests, however, against Samford dating back to 2012, and nine of the last ten total.

Alabama will start freshman right-hander Brock Love for his fourth start of the season. It will be his 11th appearance this year, including relief work.

Samford counters with freshman right-hander Connor Radcliff. He boasts a 3-3 season record and has made 13 appearances for the Bulldogs, starting 10.

Tonight's contest will be a "Two-for-One" Tuesday. All grandstand tickets are buy one, get one free.

After having committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide on May 6th, high school sophomore offensive lineman prospect Evan Neal has decommitted from the football team. It has been reported that the youngster and his family decided that he committed too early, possibly from the excitement of the Alabama offer.

Neal's father, Eddie, spoke to 247Sports and said he'd love for his son to play for the University of Alabama, but felt "he made his decision too early".

The 6' 6", 353-pound youngster says he will still consider Alabama when the time comes. Neal, a Florida native, also has offers from Georgia, South Carolina and Florida State, among other programs.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the USC Trojans will face off in Dallas on September 3rd this season in Dallas. ESPN announced earlier today that the game will be broadcast on the ABC Network under the banner of ESPN on ABC, with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.

This won't be the Tide's first trip to AT&T Stadium, having played both regular season and postseason games there. The Crimson Tide met the Badgers of Wisconsin there for the season opener in the 2015 season, defeating the Badgers 35-17 in one of ABC's highest-rated games ever.

Two University of Alabama football players have been arrested and charged, and as of this morning were sitting inside a Louisiana jail, according to multiple news outlets. The Quachita Parish (Louisiana) Sherriff's Office is reporting both left tackle Cam Robinson and defensive back Hootie Jones are charged with a misdemeaner possession of narcotics. However, Robinson has also been charged with felony illegal possession of stolen firearms.

According to police reports, officers pulled up to Robinson's car sitting in a parking lot of a local park in their hometown of West Monroe, Louisiana. The police said at 2:33 a.m. they approached the vehicle and smelled marijuana. One of the officers spotted a handgun on the lap of the passenger, and a bag of marijuana was seen on the driver's side in the floor. The stolen handgun is reported to have been under Robinson's seat.

Both Robinson and Jones have also been charged with possessing a handgun in the presence of narcotics. According to Louisiana state law, the punishment for the conviction on stolen weapon possession calls for jail time "for not less than one year nor more than five years."

The two players were home during the three-week spring break prior to the start of summer classes, and when they were to report back for conditioning.

The Alabama men's golf team fought for fifth place in yesterdays's opening round of the 2016 NCAA Men's Golf regional at the Ol' Colony Golf Complex in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The course is a Jerry Pate-designed par 72, 7,514-yard course.

Commenting on both the team and play in the first round, Alabama men's golf team head coach Jay Seawell said, "The golf course was a little better than us, especially as we were coming in. I was real proud of them because we were able to hang in there. We need to take better advantage of some birdie holes. I think we were a little tight but all-in-all, it was not a bad day."

After day one it was Bama's junior Robby Shelton taking the lead for the Tide, carding an opening round of 1-under par 71. Entering today's second round, Shelton is in a tie for ninth place among the participants, and was one of only 12 golfers to shoot below par on Monday. It marked the 18th round this season (out of 28) that he shot below par.

Sophomore Jonathan Hardee recorded four bogeys and three birdies on the day to finish with a one-over par 73. He is in a tie for 18th overall.

Freshman Davis Riley and junior Dru Love are tied for 25th position after both carded rounds of 2-over par 74.

Senior Tom Lovelady is in 33rd position with a 3-over par 75 for the day.

Top-seeded and fifth-ranked Georgia holds a three-stroke lead over No. 17 South Carolina (287) after the opening round of play. Kentucky is in third with an even par 288, while No. 29 UNLV (290) and Alabama rounded out the top five, respectively.

Seawell said, "I think there was some added pressure on our guys with the first round being today and we had a great crowd out here, which is a good thing. I think we will respond better (today). We have 36 more holes, so there is a lot of golf left to play. We had some guys who didn't finish well, so we need to make sure our attitude is really good and not panic. I think we will make those adjustments and be ready to go tomorrow (Tuesday)."

The top five teams from each of the six NCAA regional sites and the top individual finisher not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA Men's Golf National Championship, which will be played in Eugene, Oregon May 27-June 1.

Alabama will be grouped with UNLV and Auburn in today's second round and will be teeing off at 8:20 a.m. CT. Admission to the event is free for the general public.

Alphonse Taylor Responds To Tom Brokow Comments

By now most everyone has either heard directly, or heard through various social media outlets or the national newscasts the comments made by former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokow. In an effort to boost morale, or get a laugh, or endear himself to Mississippi graduates, Brokow insulted those attending or already graduated from the University of Alabama.

Brokow's "shot heard round the state" was, "I'm so relieved to be speaking to a graduating class from Ole Miss. If I were speaking at Alabama, I would have to use smaller words and shorter sentences."

Alphonse Taylor, a starter last season at right guard For the Alabama Crimson Tide, is pretty well known for his lively Twitter account and his comments by his approximately 8,500 followers, fired off a series of tweets in response.

Taylor said, "...maybe we have better things to do than listen to him babble...", and "bachelors in communications currently working on a masters in sport business management" as well as others.
