Wonder Woman has done it again!

Alabama Crimson Tide Track & Field long jumper Quanesha Burks has captured her second consecutive outdoor long jump title at the 2016 Southeastern Conference Track & Field Championships yesterday at the Sam Bailey Track & Field Complex.

Burks had a season-best jump of  22 feet 2 1/2 inches (6.77 meters) on her second jump to outdistance runner-up Sha'Keela Sanders of Kentucky (21-8 ¼: 6.61 meters). Georgia's Chanice Porter finished third (21-8: 6.60m)

After the competition Burks commented, "It felt good just to get (the winning mark) in on my second jump. I thought, `alright, we're going to have a great day today.' Usually I get it in on my last or second-to-last jump. I'm thankful for today's effort. This was the first day I was able to get it going on the first run."

Burks, a junior out of Hartselle, Alabama, now holds the top 10 long jump performances in school history, including today's mark, which stands as the third-best in school history behind her record 22-9, set at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Senior Championships in Costa Rica last August and her 22-5 ¼ effort to win last year's SEC title in Starkville, Mississippi.

Congratulations, Quanesha! Roll Tide!

The Alabama Crimson Tide Baseball team improved its record to 28-21overall and 12-12 in the SEC with an 8-6 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks last night in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

"We received another great start from Geoffrey Bramblett," said Alabama baseball head coach Mitch Gaspard. "We did some good things on offense, particularly early in the game when some guys were able to leave the yard and stretch the lead. Arkansas did a good job of responding late to get back in the game, but (Thomas) Burrows was able to close it down. This was a good Friday night win for us."

Tide starter Geoffrey Bramblett (5-3) picked up his fifth victory of the season, pitching 6.0 innings of baseball. The junior allowed just two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three batters in the process. It was his second win in as many weeks and marked the first time since March at LSU and against Tennessee in which he earned the win in back-to-back starts.
Thomas Burrows came on in relief to ensure the victory for Alabama, entering with one down and one on in the eighth to record the next two outs. Burrows walked one in the ninth, but the runner would get no further than first base. The Bama junior picked up his 11th save of the season. His 11 saves this year ties his career-high mark, which he accomplished as a freshman in 2014.

Seven of nine Crimson Tide batters picked up at least one hit, with freshman Cobie Vance recording a team-high two hits on the night. Vance banged out his second home run of the season and added one RBI to go with his team-high three runs scored. Also picking up a home run was fellow freshman Chandler Taylor, with the right fielder recording his team-high tying seventh home run and adding a career-high four RBIs on the night. Will Haynie got Bama a third home run for the night, a solo shot, and finished with one RBI and one run scored. Haynie's homer was his sixth during SEC play, a total that leads the team.

"You enjoy this win tonight, and tomorrow we have to get our focus back on what we have to do," Gaspard added. "We have an opportunity to win a series on the road [today]. There is a lot at stake in this weekend and moving forward, so our guys have to lock in and be ready to play baseball at a high level again [today].

The next game of the series is this evening at 6 pm CT. Alabama will start Jake Walters on the mound.
