TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - To say there is a lot of hype concerning the University of Alabama men's basketball team this coming season is definitely an understatement. After signing the nation's seventh-ranked recruiting class this past signing period, many of the "experts" from across the country are expecting Crimson Tide head coach Avery Johnson and company to be one of the teams named to the NCAA Tournament field. If so, it would be the first appearance for the Tide since 2012 when Bama fell to Creighton in the opening round.

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports recently released his way-too-early bracketology report, and has the Bama boys as a No. 7 seed in the tourney facing 10th-seeded TCU in the South Region. If the Tide were to win this mythical game, it would go on to face either the No. 2-seed Duke Blue Devils or No. 15-seed Florida Gulf Coast in the next round.

In the ESPN 2017-18 Basketball Power Index, the Crimson Tide comes in at No. 20 in the nation out of the top-50 teams. They are also ranking Bama's defense quite high this coming season, giving the young men in Crimson and White a No. 5 ranking. Offensively ESPN thinks the Tide ranks as the No. 61 offense in the nation.

This could be the year both the University of Alabama football and basketball are ranked in the Top 25 in the nation.

Former University of Alabama football cornerback Aaron Robinson (Deerfield Beach High School) has made his decision. Robinson has chosen to transfer to Central Florida, according to a report from AL.com. The 6' 1", 181-pound young man left UA earlier this month.

Robinson, a three-star recruit, was only with the Crimson Tide for one season, working with the second-team defense this past spring. He was expected to be one of, if not the top backup.

Robinson will have to sit out the upcoming season under NCAA transfer rules, but will have three years of eligibility remaining when he takes the field for the 2018 season. He should be a big asset to the Knights, having lost five defensive backs to graduation this year.
