University of Alabama Crimson Tide is underway for 2016. Last night the Tide traveled to the Auburn Soccer Complex in Auburn, Alabama to do battle with their in-state rivals, the Auburn Tigers. After giving up and early lead, the Tide returned home to Tuscaloosa with a 2-2 tie in the exhibition game. Both Alabama junior Lacey Clarida and sophomore Emma Welch both scored one goal each in the match.

Alabama soccer head coach Wes Hart said, "I am very proud of the effort and performance from our team (last night). (Last night) we proved the fact that we were a good team, even though that's something I already knew. We played a good even game against a very good Auburn team (last night), and we showed some great moments of possessing the ball and attacking."

Bama took a shot at the goal three times in the first half, with one of those shots finding its mark picking up a goal from Clarida at the at just over seven minutes into the contest. Both teams put on a defensive show for the remainder of the first half, with the Tide taking a 1-0 lead going into the second half.
Auburn managed to tie the match at just over 45 minutes in to tie the score in the second. The Crimson Tide then responded with Welch executing a one-on-one breakaway about 10 minutes later giving the Bama gals the lead once again, 2-1. Just under 25 minutes later the Tigers tied the match at 2-2. No overtime was scheduled, and it was the only meeting scheduled between the two teams this season.

Hart commented, "Auburn showed us some areas we need to improve on in the next few weeks, but I was impressed with many of our individual performances (last night). Some of our freshmen played like seasoned veterans, and our upperclassman attackers, Lacey and Auburn Mercer, proved to be a handful up top. Lacey continued her momentum from scoring goals in the spring, and Chatham DeProspo was a huge defensive presence for us inside (last night) as she helped us win a lot of balls and maintain possession. We are looking forward to a few days at Orange Beach, and another great test against Troy on Sunday."
