The Alabama Crimson Tide women's basketball team came up short against the Auburn Tigers yesterday 59-55. The loss marred Bama's annual Power of Pink/Play4Kay game in Foster Auditorium. Bama falls to 14-10, 3-8 SEC while the Tigers move to 16-8, 6-5 SEC.

Tide head coach KRISTY CURRY said, "At the end of the day, the best thing is that we have to continue to grow up and learn from a day like today and hope that in the rest of the month of February we improve. We just have to become a wiser basketball team. Maybe sometimes that comes from having a hard experience, but we've had a lot of them. We have to try and continue to try and turn that corner here."

MEOSHONTI KNIGHT said, "Of course we have a young team, but as we come against games like this we all have to grow. We have to learn, and we have to get better each day."

Knight led the Tide in scoring with 16 points. It was freshman SHAQUERA WADE and senior NIKKI HEGSTETTER individually finished with a game-high nine rebounds. Wade added a season-high 14 points while Knight was able to get four steals.

The Crimson Tide was 17-of-51 (33.3 percent) while Auburn was 22-of-46 (47.8 percent) from the field. Bama was able to out-rebound Auburn 35-33.

Alabama will head to Columbia, Missouri on Thursday, February 11th  to battle the No. 21 Missouri Tigers. Tip off is at 7 p.m. CT with the game airing on SEC Network +.

Tide head coach GEORGE HUSACK said, "Tough day today, and the hard work paid off. The guys were focused and energized. They were pushed and responded very well."

Husack mentioned how emotional a match the Oklahoma contest was for the Crimson Tide. "Both Troy and Lipscomb could smell blood and came after us hard. The matches made us tougher and allowed us to continue progressing in the right direction.
The Crimson Tide will meet Michigan in Ann Arbor this Saturday. First serve is set for 5 p.m. CT.
