TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - The University of Alabama football team has been working these two weeks now to improve on various problems that head coach Nick Saban has seen crop up in the last few weeks. The offense, defense and special teams fine-tuned it all on Thursday during a two-hour practice session in shells at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.

LSU has shown steady improvement over the past few weeks, and Saban and the rest of the coaches have been working on corrections that have seemed to pop up the past few weeks for Bama, as well as steering the players from the "rat poison" that the head coach has so often been pointing out.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will face off with and host nationally-ranked LSU this Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium looking to make it seven consecutive wins for Bama over the Bengal Tigers. Start time for the two SEC West rivals on CBS is set for 7 p.m. CT. Brad Nessler will handle the play-by-play and Gary Danielson will provide analysis while Allie LaForce works the sidelines. Bama leads the series 52-25-5 all-time against LSU, including a 12-7 slate at home.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - The University of Alabama football team has only three scholarshipped quarterbacks on the roster. One of them was arrested today. Crimson Tide freshman quarterback Mac Jones was arrested in Tuscaloosa and charged with driving under the influence and improper identification by a minor. He has been suspended with other action possible, according to Alabama football head coach Nick Saban.

In a statement earlier today, Saban said, " We are disappointed in Mac's actions and this is obviously not the kind of behavior we expect from our players .... We will further evaluate what actions we need to take moving forward so we can correct the behavior. It is a privilege to represent The University of Alabama and there are certain responsibilities that go along with that privilege."

Jones, age 19, was arrested at approximately 2:14 a.m. It is reported by Teena Richardson, spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, that Jones was involved in a car accident with another vehicle and then failed a field sobriety test. The officer on the scene noticed that he was acting strangely and performed the text showing the youngster was indeed intoxicated. No one was injured in the accident.

Also according to Richardson, the second charge of improper identification by a minor stems from a fake identification that Jones had in his possession.

Bond for Jones has been set at $1300, with $1,000 going for the DUI and the remaining $300 for the fake I.D.

Though Jones has not played in any games this season, he is a highly skilled young quarterback and was much sought-after during the recruiting process. Jones was a four-star prospect from Jacksonville, Florida, when he signed with the Tide this year.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Alabama Crimson Tide senior soccer midfielder Maddy Anzelc was named to the 2017 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team. The SEC  made the announcement on Thursday afternoon. Anzelc will now be among 14 total student-athletes who were named to the list highlighting a student-athlete from each of the 14 schools in the Southeastern Conference who gives back to their community in extraordinary action.

Anzelc has spent countless hours volunteering and helping those in need in the local community during her time at UA. Every year, Anzelc has participated in soccer clinics around Tuscaloosa, spearheaded efforts for Project Angel Tree, and has set up soccer stations and handed out candy at the annual Halloween Extravaganza.

She is also currently the team advocate for Team Impact and is the first student-athlete at Alabama to begin this program that pairs chronically ill children with college sports teams. During the offseason in the spring, she also schedules visits to see those who have fought for our country at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs medical center in Tuscaloosa. When Anzelc is not helping out others in Tuscaloosa, she is extending a helping hand in her home state of Ohio at Zane's Foundation, where she helps to raise money for families with special needs.

Anzelc has participated in 10 games for the Crimson Tide, and made four starts this season at midfield. In the match back on September 17th against Chattanooga, she kicked the game-winning goal, her first goal of the season and the first game-winner of her career, to help Alabama shutout the Mocs 2-0. During her four years with the Tide she has participated in 39 career games and picked up two goals, 18 shots and five shots on goal. Roll Tide, Maddie!

Alabama Football Injury Update

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - University of Alabama football head coach Nick Saban was asked about a pair of injuries during his radio coaches show, Hey Coach, on Thursday night. One of the callers asked how injured linebackers Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis were progressing during the rehabilitation process. Miller suffered a biceps injury and Lewis is working back from elbow injury received in the Crimson Tide 24-7 win over Florida State in the opening game of the season.

Saban commented, "Look, they had pretty serious injuries, both guys. Both guys are doing extremely well, and we leave it completely up to the medical staff every time somebody's injured as to what the protocol is for when they can come back.

"And these injuries were probably two and a half to three month sort of healing-time injuries, so that means maybe sometime this month or at the end of this month they might say these guys are medically cleared to start to participate again. Which means they could start practicing, but it may take them awhile before they could play.

"I think you also have to take into consideration, which I would meet with their families, as both guys would be able to have a medical redshirt this year. So, from a career standpoint, the players should always have input as to whether he thinks that's beneficial to his future or is not, for them to come back and play in one or two games down the road.

"Until that happens, I don't think it's worth discussing."
