TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Practice continues for the University of Alabama football team in preparation for a Top 25 matchup with Southeastern Conference Western Division foe LSU. The Crimson Tide put in two hours of work yesterday afternoon in full pads at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields on the UA campus.

Da'Shawn Hand practiced for the second time and was seen wearing a brace on the left knee during the very limited media viewing period yesterday. Hand was injured in the game with Ole Miss and has been making a steady recovery.

Josh Jacobs appeared to be recovering nicely from an ankle injury. He was somewhat limited last week.

Bama must stop an improved LSU rushing attack that ranks fifth in the SEC, picking up an average of 216.2 yards per game. The Tiger defense also ranks fifth in total defense in the Southeastern Conference that will be looking to stop the Tide running and air attack. This important SEC Western Division game will be played this Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on CBS with a 7 p.m. CT start planned. It will be Brad Nessler on play-by-play, Gary Danielson handling color commentary and Allie LaForce working the sidelines.

This will be the 82nd meeting between the Tide and Tigers, with Alabama leading the all-time series 51-25-5 as well as winning last year's contest 10-0 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. UA has captured the victory in the last six meetings between the two schools.

Alabama Crimson Tide Ranked No. 2
In First Week Of College Football Playoff Rankings

The College Football Playoff committee released its inaugural Top 25 for 2017 on Monday evening. THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE, despite being the No. 1 team all season in both major college football polls, was ranked No. 2 this week based on "resume." Chosen as No. 1 are the Georgia Bulldogs based on "strength of schedule." Of course most expect that the Tide and Dogs will go head-to-head in the Southeastern Conference Championship game.

Five teams from the SEC made the CFP Playoff poll this first time out. Besides Georgia (1) and Alabama (2), there are Auburn (14), Mississippi State (16) and LSU (19).

So as of now, the matchups for the playoffs would be Georgia-Clemson and then Alabama-Notre Dame. Of course that is certainly subject to change.

According to The Beaumont Enterprise, University of Alabama football sophomore Deionte Thompson is one of four men indicted on felony aggravated assault charges in relation to a spring brawl on a Texas beach. According to the Enterprise, the 20-year old Thompson, along with three other men, were indicted last week after having been charged and bonded out of the local jail back in April.

The incident actually occurred back on March 18th on Crystal Beach in Texas, followed by an arrest about a month later. Thompson is a free safety for the Crimson Tide out of Orange, Texas.

Alabama football head coach Nick Saban issued a statement saying, "We are continuing to follow the process of the legal proceedings in this matter. We are not going to make any judgments until that process has been completed."

According to court records, Thompson's friend punched the alleged victim, Noah Frillou, in the face following a racial slur. According to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office, Thompson was one of two men who kicked Frillou as he fell to the ground.
