University of Alabama 4-star dual quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa has been named the Most Valuable Player of The Opening's 7-on-7 tournament. The Opening is considered the biggest recruiting showcase of the year, and Tagovailoa did shine.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Tagovailoa is the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2017, and the No. 60 player overall.

The Crimson Tide's 2017 recruiting class is No. 3 in the country behind Georgia and Ohio State.

University of Alabama basketball head coach AVERY JOHNSON has targeted a man he wants for 2017. Jaren Jackson, Jr. is that man. He is the son of Johnson's former teammate with the San Antonio Spurs in the late 1990s, Jaren Jackson, Sr. That particular fact has the younger five-star forward taking a look at Crimson Tide basketball.

Speaking to Jerry Meyer, 247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting at the Peach Jam, the 6' 10", 22-pound Jackson, Jr. said, "[Alabama is] in the mix, definitely. I've known Coach Avery for a while because my dad played with him. He knows how to develop players. He's done a great turnaround with that program. It's a place where I could go and make an impact."

However, Maryland is the heavy favorite for his services.

Jackson named ALABAMA, Maryland, Michigan State, Purdue, Butler, Illinois, Texas, and Old Dominion as the schools that are recruiting him the hardest. He plans to make a decision on where he will play before January.

According to the 247Sports Composite the younger Jackson is the the No. 7 small forward and the No. 21 overall prospect in the 2017 recruiting class.

University of Alabama football wide receiver prospect Jeff Thomas out of East St. Louis, Illinois was clocked at 4.38 in the 40-yard dash at The Opening this weekend, making him the fastest prospect on the field. Some of the fastest footballers in the country have been there strutting their stuff, and Thomas won his five-man heat over the likes of Salvon Ahmed, Darnay Holmes, Donovan Johnson and Chris Henderson. What a group!

Thomas only recently named the Alabama Crimson Tide as his leader in the recruiting wars. Other schools, such as Missouri, Michigan State, Ohio State and Michigan, are nipping at his heels though.

Thomas is the No. 9 wide receiver in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 62 player overall.

247Sports Director of Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, says he expects it to be a battle between Alabama and Missouri. Alabama, however, currently appears to have a significant edge.

Alabama Crimson Tide football commit Tua Tagovailoa has begun getting to know the other six UA football commits at The Opening. And he likes them.

Tua believes if you are going to be playing with a group of guys for up to four years then you should make an effort to get to know them. When asked about one in particular, he didn't hold back.

Concerning Najee Harris, Tua believes he is "an awesome guy." He even mentioned that not only is Harris a great player, but one that will reciprocate friendship. Tua said that Harris had even been attending his Bible study group at The Opening. He spoke of struggles, and overcoming those struggles and says it's amazing.

Concerning the play of Harris and his competitiveness, Tua says that Harris is the complete package. That he can block, catch and run. He said there are too many things about Harris to "be impressed by just one."

Sounds like the guys already have a bond that will only grow with time at the Capstone.

And speaking of Harris, he told SEC Country at The Opening that he is a firm commit to Alabama even though he has taken other visits. He said he just wanted to "enjoy the recruiting process." But now with school and the new season edging ever closer, he's going to probably give up the visits for the remainder of the summer to spend more time with his teammates.

Oh, and speaking of teammates, he says he likes the guys that have commited to the Crimson Tide and is looking forward to getting to know them better and playing with them.

Harris told SEC Country, "All of them are my guys. Every single one of them."

None of the visits he's made to other schools have been official visits he says, and he may not take any officials this fall. It's a wait and see thing.

Dylan Moses Rethinks Alabama-Lean
_____

Gives Texas Longhorns A Slight Edge

It appears that The University of Alabama is no longer the top school for linebacker Dylan Moses. And it seems to have to do with playing time. Moses still plans to take his official visit to Tuscaloosa, however, to see the Crimson Tide host the Kentucky Wildcats.

Moses told SEC Country that he is concerned about Alabama's depth chart at linebacker. He said, "Alabama is great. I saw they got two more commitments. It kind of has me a little iffy about it because I don't really know how i fit inside that. I'm still trying to look at that.

"They keep telling me that they have room for me, but just looking at it, all of the linebackers they have there now — and with two more (recent) linebacker commits — they’re probably going to get some more. I’m trying to think about it."

Though the young five-star recently named Texas as his leader, he now says that there isn't any school on top right now because of the "confusing" and fast changes that seem to be taking place at his position.

He does say, however, that he is still considering Alabama, but not with quite the enthusiasm as before.

Tide No Longer No. 1 Recruiting Class In SEC
_____

Georgia Is 1st While Bama Slips To 2nd
