The Football Writers Association of America has awarded Alabama junior running back Derrick Henry his second award of the week, the National Offensive Player of the Week. He was earlier named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week from the league offices.

The Bama junior put on a stellar performance, gaining 147 yards on only 13 carries as well as three touchdowns. His scores came on scampers of 37, 56 and two yards against 20th-ranked Wisconsin. He had a career-high 11.3 yards per carry, based on a minimum of 10 carries, as well as his total yardage and touchdowns. This was Henry's sixth 100-plus yard rushing game.
Henry and his team mates will face the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders this Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.

Crimson Tide Continues To Prepare For MTSU

It was another two-hour outdoor practice session in full pads and heat yesterday afternoon on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields in Tuscaloosa.

The Crimson Tide will host the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders this Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium for Bama's 2015 home-opener. The Tide's defense is looking to stop a potent MTSU offense that produced 605 total yards and 70 points last week in their season-opener.

Alabama's defense was tested this past Saturday in their season-opening 35-17 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers. They will once again be tested this Saturday. The Blue Raiders finished 2014 with a 6-6 record in coach Rick Stockstill's 9th season in Murfreesboro. The team is expected to be improved, as the potency of the offense showed itself last week.

The secondary is getting their work in for some of the lapses of last week. Bama will be looking to cut down on penalties, especially pass interference calls that plagued them last weekend. The Tide got their first pick of the season and hoping to add more this week, and perhaps strip a ball or two. Bama worked on take-aways during the spring and summer practice sessions.

The Crimson Tide will practice again today in full pads today, as well as tomorrow. They will get the game plan fine-tuned and and a run-through will be made in Thursday's practice.

Bama and MTSU square off this Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium at 3 p.m. CT. The game will air live on the SEC Network. Tom Hart, Andre Ware and Laura Rutledge will be making the call.
