Alabama Rowing Wins Club 4+ On Saturday,
Club 8+ Places Seventh At Head Of The Charles
Following yesterday's competition, Crimson Tide rowing head coach Larry Davis said, "I'm extremely pleased with both crews. Two top-10 finishes including our first gold medal at the Charles is a good indication that the team is doing what they need to be doing this fall. We're looking forward to an even greater performance at the Head of the Hooch at the beginning of November."
It has now been two-consecutive weeks that Bama has earned a gold medal with its top 4+ crew. Today's finish not only marks Alabama rowing's first event win at the Head of the Charles in any race but it is a course record as well in the 4+. The Tide Club 4+ finished over 20 seconds ahead of second place Penn as well as third place SEC rival Tennessee with a time of 18:02.402.
The Crimson Tide's Alabama's Club 8+ followed with a seventh-place finish in its race, crossing the line in 17:03.774. Only eight seconds separated the boat from Syracuse and Northeastern in a tight grouping.
Next up for Bama will be a return trip to Chattanooga for the Head of the Hooch scheduled for November 4-5. The Tide will wind up its fall season on the following Saturday, November 11th hosting UCF.
