Crimson Tide Football Prepped And Ready For Razorbacks
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - The University of Alabama football team completed its final practice of the week on Thursday afternoon in preparation for Saturday's matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Crimson Tide spent two hours indoors at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility practicing in shells.
Not only is this a Southeastern Conference game, it's an SEC Western Division matchup that Arky head coach Bret Bielema and the Hogs desperately need to win. The game is this Saturday, a Homecoming contest, at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Broadcast time is 6:20 p.m. CT on ESPN with Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit making the call from the booth, and Maria Taylor working the sidelines.
This will be the 28th meeting between the Tide and Hogs.

Defeats Alabama State In Four Sets

MONTGOMERY, Alabama – It may not have started out well, but the saying is "All's well that ends well." After dropping its opening set to Alabama State, Alabama Crimson Tide volleyball then rallied with three-straight set victories to win the match with a 3-1 score.
The crowd at Lockhart Gymnasium in Montgomery was a little wild, especially leading with a set victory to start things off for State, but Alabama (14-6) rolled right back in to take the next three states over Alabama State (16-8), 21-25 for the overall win.
It was Crimson Tide sophomore Mahalia Swink leading the Bama offense with 15 kills while senior Leah Lawrence and sophomore Ginger Perinar also scored in double figures with 10 apiece. Freshman Meghan Neelon came up just two digs shy of a double-double, earning 42 assists and eight digs. Senior Natalie Murison contributed a season-high three aces from the service line, and junior Quincey Gary led the defense with 16 digs. Haley McSparin provided an addition seven kills on the night.
Next up for Bama will be a contest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a Sunday, October 15th contest with the LSU Tigers (13-4, 4-2 SEC). Match time is set for 1 p.m. CT.

Dabo Swinney To Attend Ceremony

Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney has confirmed to The Tuscaloosa News that he will be in attendance this Saturday for the big get-together of the Alabama 1992 National Championship football team. After all, Swinney was a wide receiver for the team. Dabo walked on at The Capstone in 1989 then received a scholarship and played from 1990-1992, playing under the great Gene Stallings.
Current University of Alabama head football Nick Saban welcomes former head man Stallings, and the entire team, back to the university tomorrow. Saban commented, "Looking forward to seeing Coach Stallings and his team back for the 25th anniversary of their national championship."
Several members of Swinney's coaching staff, all of whom have ties to the University of Alabama, will make their appearance, will be making the trip following the Clemson-Syracuse game which will be on tonight.
Alabama and Clemson are currently ranked as the top-two teams in the country.

Alabama Gymnastics Releases 2018 Home Schedule

has announced the Alabama gymnastics team's 2018 home schedule on Thursday. The Crimson Tide's home portion of the schedule includes six regular-season meets as well as the 2018 NCAA Regional Championships.
Duckworth said, "We have such an exciting lineup this year, we just can't wait to get out there in Coleman Coliseum and compete in front of the best fans around. We're also thrilled to have some of the nation's best teams coming to Tuscaloosa. The level of competition is going to be amazing and that will only help us as we prepare for the championship season."
All of Bama's six regular-season home meets will be held on Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. CT. Season tickets are currently available.
Duckworth continued, "Our fans are our biggest competitive advantage, so I hope all of you will get your season tickets today and encourage your friends and family to do the same. You're not going to want to miss a second of this season."
Alabama will open its home slate with four consecutive Southeastern Conference meets, with the first against the Georgia Bulldogs on January 12th. Then on January 26th Bama welcomes Missouri, with Arkansas opening the Tide's February schedule on the second with Alabama's annual Power of Pink meet.
Kentucky is next on the home slate for the Tide on February 16th, which will welcome the Alabama 1988 NCAA championship team. The meet will serve as the centerpiece of the Tide's alumni weekend.
Alabama will next host the UNC Tarheels on March 2nd, then closing the regular season against two-time defending NCAA Champion Oklahoma on March 16th.
Bama will also host to the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional on April 7th, marking the 15th time the Tide has has played host to a regional championship, with the last time coming in 2016.
In addition to its regular and postseason events, Alabama will introduce the 2018 team on December 8th in Coleman Coliseum with its fun-filled Crimson and White Preview.
Duckworth concluded, "We haven't done something like this in such a long time, but we wanted everyone to come and meet this year's team and get a sneak preview of what the season is going to look like and maybe learn something about gymnastics that they didn't know before. It's a night entirely dedicated to fun."
