The two-hour practice session yesterday got underway at 3:30 p.m. CT, with a focus on prep for Saturday's scrimmage. The scrimmage will be held inside Bryant-Denny Stadium at 1 p.m. CT and is closed to the public. Yesterday's practice was the 17th of Fall Camp, with 11 remaining before the Tide kicks off the season in the AdvoCare Classic on September 3rd. The No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide will face the No. 17 USC Trojans, with a 7 p.m. CT kickoff planned on ABC.
The Tide was able to get several of the injured players back on the field yesterday, though several were wearing the black non-contact jerseys. Running back Derrick Gore sported a knee brace on his injured left leg as well as the jersey yesterday, with RB Ronnie Clark, OL Richie Pettibon and DB Nigel Knott back in non-contact jerseys.
After sustaining an injury in last Saturday's scrimmage, Dalvin Tomlinson continues to ride the exercise bike on the sidelines.
Running back Bo Scarbrough appears to be doing just fine, leading the running back drills. He was followed yesterday by Damien Harris, B.J. Emmons and Joshua Jacobs according to AL.com
Today's practice will be the final practice of the week before Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage. The team will then have their first back-to-back days off following the scrimmage.

Bama Basketball Coach Aids In Louisiana Flood Relief

University of Alabama Crimson Tide head basketball coach Avery Johnson is giving a helping hand to those living in Louisiana and victims of the horrendous flooding taking place there. Johnson's native southern Louisiana home has been devastated by the rains and flooding there, and he has gone into action.
Johnson decided to rent a semi-truck, fill it with supplies and send it to the flood victims. What's in the truck? Very needed supplies, like bottled water, soap, towels and clothes and more. He is now calling for the city of Tuscaloosa as well as the state of Alabama to pitch in and do the same.
"My heart goes out to all the residents of the Baton Rouge area that have been impacted by this devastating flood," Johnson said. "I wanted to figure out an immediate way to help support the recovery efforts. In talking with Interim AD and men's basketball coach Roman Banks, I decided I wanted to load up an 18-wheeler with as many supplies as we could possible fit on it and get it to Baton Rouge from Tuscaloosa immediately."
Johnson has said that will not be all he will do. He has vowed to continue the help, and for that help to continue to grow to help the area to recover.
"I will continue to be a part of the restoration efforts," Johnson said. "This was just a small showing of love and support for a community that's dear to my heart. I'm proud to be a 1988 graduate of Southern University and I wanted to let people down there know we are thinking and praying for the entire community."
Thousands have been displaced from their homes and are seeking shelter, many in homes of families or friends, community shelters, gymnasiums, and the like. Approximately 400 of them are staying at the F.G. Clark Activity Center...on Avery Johnson Court, Southern University's basketball court. The shelter services there are currently being run by the American Red Cross, who are doing all they can for the victims, and continue to ask for donations to help even more.
Johnson issued this plea, "I would like to reach out to my new family in Tuscaloosa and the state of Alabama to please join me in supporting the flood relief efforts.

Despite the loss, Riley carded a course record of 7-under par 63 during Tuesday's second round of stroke play and advanced with a win in 19 holes in the opening round of match play on Wednesday.
In good spirits, Riley commented, "This was a fun week. Just to be able to compete in the U.S. Amateur is an honor. I am obviously disappointed not be there on the final day, but it's all part of the process.
"I had been playing great but just got beat [yesterday] and that's how it goes sometimes. I was able to accomplish some things that I'm proud of. To match a course record and have my name associated with Matt Kuchar (who set the course record with a 63 in 2007) and others is a huge honor. This experience will give me more confidence and motivation for the future."
Alabama Crimson Tide men's golf head coach Jay Seawell was by his side serving as Riley's caddy throughout the championship.
"It was a lot of fun having coach Seawell on the bag," Riley said. "Just to have coach walk with me, give me his input and have his presence gave me a lot of confidence."
