The University of Alabama women's golf program is well-represented in this year's U.S. Women's Amateur at Rolling Greens Golf Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania. Cheyenne Knight, Lauren Stephenson and Kristen Gillman had solid opening rounds to open the tournament yesterday.

Stephenson, who will be a sophomore this coming year, is sitting at two-under par after her opening round of 69. She is currently tied for 10th place and is only three shots off the lead.

Last season's NCAA Freshman of the Year (Women's Golf Coaches Association), Cheyenne Knight, shot a one-under par 70 and is currenting in a tie for 18th.

Incoming freshman golfer Kristen Gillman shot an opening-round one-over par 72 and is tied for 36th. Interesting note here in that Gillman won the event as a 16-year old back in 2014.

These are not the first young ladies in the tournament having played at Alabama. In fact, Bama's Emma Talley was the first Crimson Tide golfer to win the Women's U.S. Amateur title in 2013 at Charleston (South Carolina) Country Club.

The top-64 players following today's second stroke-play round advance to match play competition that will begin Wednesday and conclude Saturday with a 36-hole match play championship between the final two golfers.

Today's round began at 6:15 a.m. CT. Gillman will tee off at 8:05 a.m. today. Stephenson is next at 8:27 a.m. Knight will tee off at 1:42 p.m.

Alabama Tops List Of 2010s All-Time Greatest Teams

The Associated Press has been ranking college football teams for quite a few years now. There are times, over the years, when the AP differed from the other services. However, in more recent years, such as through the BCS years and now the CFP, the AP has matched the outcome.

Between 2010-15, the Alabama Crimson Tide has captured three National Championships. Of the six, the Southeastern Conference owns four. Auburn in 2010 and Alabama in in 2011, 2012, and 2015. Florida State out of the ACC took the title in 2013. Then Ohio State stepped up for the first time in several years to capture the title in 2014.

2010 - 2015 AP National Champions:

2010 Auburn
2011 Alabama
2012 Alabama
2013 Florida State
2014 Ohio State
2015 Alabama

Using a point system devised by the CFN scoring system, the following is a list of the All-Time Greatest Teams. The Southeastern Conference had nine teams in the top 25, and another four receiving vote, or points, and also included in the overall list.

The Southeastern Conference is represented by The University of Alabama (1), LSU (9), South Carolina (11), Auburn (T14), Georgia (17), Mississippi State (19), Missouri (20), Texas A&M (21) and Arkansas (22). Other SEC schools accumulating points are Florida (T31), Ole Miss (T40), Vanderbilt (T48) and Tennessee (T50). That would make a total of 13 schools from the SEC making the list. Kentucky was the only school not receiving points and therefore not appearing in the list.

These rankings are created according to the CFN scoring system – this isn’t the official AP ranking of its all-time greatest teams.
