Two years in a row now. The Golf Coaches Association of American announced Tuesday morning that Alabama men's golfer Robby Shelton has been named a PING 1st-Team All-American honoree for two consecutive years. This makes nine years running that at least one player for the Tide has earned this distinction.
Alabama men's head golf coach Jay Seawell said, "I am very proud of Robby. "Making first team All-American in back-to-back years is a great accomplishment. It is a result of his dedication to the game and the talent he has."
Shelton is only the fourth golfer in Bama golf history to earn back-to-back first team All-American. The others were Bud Cauley in 2009, 2010, and 2011, Justin Thomas in 2012 and 2013, and Bobby Wyatt in 2013 and 2014.
Shelton finished the season ranked as the No. 7 golfer in the country according to the Golfweek/Sagarin performance Index.
