TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Oh they're rolling! Big time! The University of Alabama women's soccer extended its win streak to five games, which just happens to be the longest streak since the 2012 season. The Crimson Tide took down Tennessee Tech 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Alabama Soccer Complex in beautiful Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This was their third shutout of the season for Bama (7-1), allowing no shots on goal by the Golden Eagles (3-3).
It wasn't all rosy for the Tide, however. UA head soccer coach Wes Hart said, "In general I thought this was one of our flatter performances in terms of our energy level. The most disappointing thing was our overall energy level because I thought it was flat, but credit to the group for finding a way to win. We are not too good to take an ugly win."
Alabama picked up 13 shots in the game compared to the Golden Eagles with six shots, while the Tide eight corners, to Tennessee Tech's two.
Cloe Maize had four shots and three shots on goal for the Crimson Tide, followed by Chatham Deprospo with three shots and two SOG, Casey Wertz with two shots and one SOG with Brynn Martin taking one shot.
Next up for Alabama is seventh-ranked South Carolina in Columbia. Match time is Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. CT.

Alabama shot a 20-under par over the final 36 holes to be in position to win this year's season-opening event. After finishing the opening round in eighth place with a 6-over par 294, the Crimson Tide came back with an 11-under par 277 on Saturday, then followed that up with a 9-under par 279 Sunday to sit atop the field after 54 holes of play. Moreover, the Tide's final two rounds were the two lowest rounds in the entire field throughout the three-day event.
Alabama men's golf head coach Jay Seawell said, "I'm real proud because I think we showed a great deal of resiliency. In the first tournament of the year, I think there's a lot we can learn, even when we were doing things well. We have a theme this year of bouncing back after something doesn't go our way and I thought our guys did a great job of that. We were pretty much irrelevant through the first nine holes today, but over the last six or seven holes we played some seriously stellar golf. I'm really proud of our guys doing a great job and giving our team a chance to win."
Bama's top two performers were junior Davis Riley with a third place finish and senior Lee Hodges coming in ninth.
