Over Colorado State 41-23 In Bryant-Denny Stadium

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – For the second-consecutive contest, the University of Alabama football team scored on its opening drive en route to defeating Colorado State 41-23 on Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium. It was Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Hurts picking up 351 yards of total offense, while throwing two touchdown passes and rushing for another touchdown himself. The Tide also scored two touchdowns off two Rams' turnovers. Alabama improves to 3-0 on the season, while Colorado State drops to 2-2 overall.

Hurts overall offensive production for the day looked good. He finished 12-of-17 for 248 yards and two touchdown via the pass, as well as a game-high 103 yards on the ground on 11 carries to lead the Alabama offense. This contest now makes six 100-yard rushing games for the sophomore quarterback, and the second in a row.

Leading the receiving corp for UA was junior Calvin Ridley picking up 92 yards on three catches, including a 78-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter to. Ridley is now the fifth 20000-yard receiver in Alabama history, picking up 2,031 career receiving yards.

Defensively for the Tide it was junior Keith Holcombe leading the crew with a career-high nine total tackles as well as breaking up one pass. Senior defensive back Hootie Jones and junior defensive back Ronnie Harrison both picked up interceptions to stop Rams' drives.

Crimson Tide senior kicker Andy Pappanastos netted a personal best in the game with a career-long 46-yard field goal that gave Bama a 17-0 lead with 5:13 remaining in the first quarter.

Alabama had 487 yards of total offense compared to 391 for Colorado State, but it looked like it was going to be a complete run-away at the end of the first with the Tide holding a 216-11 advantage. Bama had a one-yard passing total over State on the night, 248-247 with a 239-144 advantage for Alabama rushers. The Tide picked up 23 first downs on the night, with the Rams garnering 22. At the end of the first half, with a 24-10 score in Bama's favor, the Tide had already amassed 301 yards of total offense.

The Crimson Tide will travel to Nashville, Tennessee this next Saturday, September 23rd to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in its Southeastern Conference opener. The game will be broadcast live on CBS with a 2:30 p.m. CT start.

Alabama Volleyball Sweeps Troy

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – University of Alabama volley has extended its win streak to eight matches by defeating Troy on Saturday to close out the weekend at the Crimson-White Tournament with a three-set sweep over Troy in Foster Auditorium. The Crimson Tide improves to 11-2 on the season, while the Troy Trojans fell to 5-9.

Bama defeated Troy by 10 points in the first match, then 11 in second and pulled out a 25-22 squeaker in the third to win by three. Tide senior Leah Lawrence and sophomores Hayley McSparin and Ginger Perinar led the Bama Belles with eight kills each. The trio all three hit above .380, leading to a season-best .303 team hitting percentage to this point. Lawrence, McSparin and Perinar were all three named to the Crimson-White All-Tournament team. Hayley McSparin took home the MVP award.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will open Southeastern Conference play with next weekend with two matches on the road. First up will be the Georgia Bulldogs (10-3) on Friday, September 22nd with a 6 p.m. CT start time, followed by a match on Sunday, September 24th with the Ole Miss Rebels (8-4) at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Crimson Tide Women's Golf Is Third Place
Following Round 2 Of Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tennessee – The University of Alabama women's golf team is now in third place after a hot 16-under par 272 on Saturday at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the par-72, 6,335-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.

Alabama has once again proved a formidable foe as the Crimson Tide women's golf team really showed out yesterday during the second round. Both the total score as well as the score vs. par are the second-lowest in both categories in program history, behind only the third round 25-under par 263 the Tide ladies shot in the final round of the 2016 Mason Rudolph Championship. Bama's 36-hole total (556) ranks third in school history.

Overall the Crimson Tide finished the round with a total of 18 birdies and one eagle, with only two bogies. Bama is 20-under par heading into today's third round. It should be noted that all five UA golfers finished the round below par.

Today's final round begins at 8 a.m. CT, with the Tide set to be in the group with Arkansas and Arizona State in round three. Angelica Moresco will be first off the tee for Bama at 9:40 a.m. CT, followed by Cheyenne Knight at 9:50, Kristen Gillman at 10:00, Lakareber Abe at 10:10 and Lauren Stephenson at 10:20.

Southeastern Conference Football Scores




Saturday's matchups with Southeastern Conference schools went pretty much as anticipated. The SEC ended the weekend with 5-2 record against out-of-conference opponents There were schools from the SEC, however, that played each other this week

The first win of the day for the SEC came from a Texas A&M victory, and the final one of the day was a late game featuring Ole Miss and Cal. The University of Alabama Crimson Tide captured it's third victory of the season by defeating Colorado State 41-23 for a perfect 3-0 record in the young 2017 college football season.
