TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - It was another hot and humid day at The Capstone on Wednesday as the University of Alabama football team put in another two hours of practice getting ready for this Saturday's Southeastern Conference opener with the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville, Tennessee. The Crimson Tide worked out worked out in full pads at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
Anfernee Jennings, Rashaan Evans and Dylan Moses were all again practicing yesterday, with all three continuing to show improvement. Hale Hentges was looking good yesterday and will be called upon to step up even bigger now that Miller Forristall is lost for the season with an ACL injury. While Hentges led the group, Irv Smith Jr and Cam Stewart were also putting in work at the position.
True freshman Brian Robinson was spotted working at H Back yesterday during the media viewing period. He has been generally regarded as a probable redshirt, but things may be being rethought now as a little help may be needed.
The Crimson Tide and Commodores are scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT broadcast time on CBS television. It will be the first Alabama game to be televised by CBS so far in 2017. Calling the game from the booth at Vanderbilt Stadium will be Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson, with the lovely Allie LaForce walking the sidelines.
This Saturday will be the 84th meeting between Alabama and Vanderbilt, with the Tide leading the all-time series 59-19-4 (after vacated games). UA has won the last 21 consecutive contests dating back to 1985. In the Music City the Tide is 27-14-2 all-time against VU, and has won the last 18 contests.
