Alabama Takes 6-1 Win Over Ole Miss In SEC Baseball Tournament; Kyle Overstreet Named To 2015 SEC All-Defensive Team

Starting Alabama pitcher Jeffrey Bramblett shone like the sun today, leading the way in a big 6-1 win for the Crimson Tide over the Ole Miss Rebels in the opening game of the Southeastern Conference  Baseball Tournament. Bramblett had a season-high 10 strike outs in the contest after pitching all nine innings.

Bama's bats were also big in today's contest. Mikey White, Casey Hughston and J.C. Wilhite each stepped up big for Bama with two hits. It was White, Hughston, Henry and Wilhite with run-scoring hits in the seventh inning.

The Tide's record improves to 31-26 while Ole Miss drops to 30-26 and heads home. Ole Miss, however has already secured a birth in the NCAAs, something which Bama hopes to do in this tournament.

Bama squares off with  3-seed Texas A&M tomorrow at the Hoover Met for round 2. Game time is at 9:30 AM CDT. Head coach Mitch Gaspard says he is leaning toward starting freshman Jake Walters in the contest, but that senior Taylor Guilbeau is certainly another option.

Kyle Overstreet

University of Alabama baseballs primary second baseman, Kyle Overstreet, has been named to the 2015 SEC All-Defensive Team. The announcement came Monday afternoon from the SEC office. This is Overstreet's second conference award, having previously been named to the 2013 SEC All-Freshman Team.

Overstreet ranks fourth all-time in his 179 career starts with 528 assists. He has committed only 13 errors on the season.

This is now the third time that an Alabama player has been named to the conference's all-defensive team since it's inception in 2008.
