The 2015 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament begins this morning in Hoover, Alabama. The Crimson Tide made the cut via a 1-0 shutout victory of the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Alabama has a 30-26 overall record, and an RPI of 50 according to the NCAA. Alabama's starting pitcher will be Geoffrey Bramblett (7-3).

A win this morning would pit Alabama against No. 3 seed Texas A&M on Wednesday at 9:30 AM CDT. This would then move Alabama from the single to double-elimination format.

The tournament winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Bama's last tournament victory was in 2003.

Bama enters the tournament as the 11th overall seed with a 12-18 SEC record, and will meet the six-seed Ole Miss Rebels this morning at 9:30 AM CDT.  The game can been seen on the SEC Network.

University of Alabama baseballs primary second baseman, Kyle Overstreet, has been named to the 2015 SEC All-Defensive Team. The announcement came Monday afternoon from the SEC office. This is Overstreet's second conference award, having previously been named to the 2013 SEC All-Freshman Team.

Overstreet ranks fourth all-time in his 179 career starts with 528 assists. He has committed only 13 errors on the season.

This is now the third time that an Alabama player has been named to the conference's all-defensive team since it's inception in 2008.

Track&Field/Cross Country

The Crimson Tide men's and women's track & field and cross country teams remain among the nation's elite according to the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I National Team Computer Rankings  which were released yesterday.

Both teams remain in the top 20, with the Bama men advancing one slot while the women fell two places. The Tide men rose from 12th to 11th in this week's rankings, while the women slid from 16th to 18th.

In the NCAA South Region rankings the Bama women show up in fourth place. The Tide men also are fourth.

The rankings do not equate with the NCAA Championships team points.

Outdoor Rankings

Three Crimson Tiders are ranked in the top 20 in this week's world outdoor rankings. They are Quanesha Burks, Alex Amankwah, and Remona Burchell.

Burks, a sophomore, is ranked number five in the women's long jump. She broke the Alabama school record as well as won the 2015 SEC Outdoor Championships. Last Friday Burks had a jump of 22 feet, five and one-quarter inches to break the school mark, and is currently the second-best jump in 2015 by an American.

Amankwah, a senior, made the list with the 18th-fastest time this year at the Florida Relays this past month. Another senior, Burchell, posted the eighth-fastest time in the world in the 100-meter dash at the same meet.
