It was an indoors kind of day for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Bama was into the Xs and Os yesterday as they continued to work out the battle plan for this Saturday's contest with Western Kentucky University. The Tide put in approximately two hours of work in shells at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
Alabama last week won their season-opener with then 17/20th-ranked USC 52-6 at AT&T Stadium to remain the number one team in the land. The Hilltoppers won their opener also to the tune of 46-14 over their Conference USA rival Rice Owls. WKU would like nothing better than to spoil the Tide's home-opener and knock off the top-ranked team in the country.
The Crimson Tide is 9-0 thus far in The Process winning all home-openers under Alabama head football coach Nick Saban. This week's win would make it a perfect 10-of-10 for Saban since coming to the Capstone.
Yesterday's practice was the final full practice of the week, with a walk-through planned for this afternoon. The Alabama Crimson Tide and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers are scheduled to kick it off tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. CT at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins, Anthony Becht and Rocky Boiman making the call.

Notebooking The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team will be hosting the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers tomorrow afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been trying to convince everyone that WKU is a legitimate threat.
The Hilltoppers are the kings of Conference USA, posting an 8-0 record in conference play last season, and expected to take the crown again this year. Before snubbing that conference, just know that they were second only to the SEC in winning percentage (.600 vs .800) in bowl games.
WKU went 12-2 last season, finishing No. 24 in the Top 25 rankings. Over the past five years they are 43-33 overall.
Western could actually have one of the deepest backfields in the nation, a good line on both sides of the ball, and should be ready to end up in the top 25 once again this season. Incidentally, the receiving corp is no slouch. Returning and expected to play a big role in this week's game is Taywan Taylor who last season caught 86 passes for 1,467 yards and 17 touchdowns. Nicholas Norris is also back, with 63 catches for 971 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Last season the Hilltoppers' defense was second in the conference, holding opponents to a 35.2 percent third-down conversion rate and forcing a conference-best 31 turnovers.
Runningback Anthony Wales was selected as Conference USA's most elusive back, averaging 7.0 yards per carry last season. Taywan Taylor was selected best athlete in the conference , third in the nation with the most receiving yards. Left tackle Forrest Lamp was chosen the conference's Top NFL prospect and head coach Jeff Brohm was selected the best coach in Conference USA.
This will be a game.
Kickoff is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. CT inside Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Nine Crimson Tide Coaches' Contracts Up For Discussion
Of course Crimson Tide football fans are interested in the outcome of the contract for Tide football offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, in the third and final season of his three-year deal with the university. This season Lane is making $714,000, but remember, it was set up to allow USC to handle the bulk of Kiffin's pay since his firing back in 2013. Now Alabama must discuss carrying the entire compensation package to begin next year. Incidentally, Kiffin was paid $680,000 by UA during his first two seasons.
Also up for discussion are newly-hired baseball coach Greg Goff, track & field coach Dan Waters, men's golf Jay Seawell, women's golf Mic Potter, men's tennis George Husack, women's tennis Jenny Mainz, softball coach Pat Murphy and rowing coach Larry Davis.
