Can you believe it? It's finally here!
The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football teams opens the 2016 season today! Well, okay, tonight. But this is the day for which we've been waiting. Alabama and USC: two storied football programs.
This will be the Crimson Tide's third visit to AT&T Stadium in a year, the fourth overall. Perhaps Bama shouldn't be considered visitors. The Alabama logo would look great up there along with AT&T. The Tide opened the 2015 season with a victory over Wisconsin right here, and then went on to absolutely destroy Michigan State at the end of the season in the College Football Playoff semifinal back on New Year's eve. Now, tonight, it's the USC Trojans.
The University of Alabama sold out its
allotment of 16,000 tickets. AL.com reports that Stubhub reports the median price for a ticket through their website is running at $120.
Alabama and USC square off tonight at 7 p.m. CT in the AdvoCare Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game will be broadcast live by ABC.

The University of Alabama soccer team lost its first match of the season yesterday giving up one goal in the second to 20th-ranked South Florida at the Corbett Soccer Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Crimson Tide falls to 4-1 on the season, while the Bulls remain undefeated at 5-0.
Alabama soccer head coach Wes Hart said, "I have to tip my hat to USF, as they frustrated us and disrupted our rhythm. We did not play as sharp as we usually do today, but we managed to still create a couple of very good chances. This one stings, but we can't dwell on it. Hopefully we learned some lessons, and now we must focus our attention on Florida Gulf Coast."
The Crimson Tide managed eight shots, four shots on goal, five corner kicks as well as three saves in yesterday's effort. Three of those eight shots came in the first half, with two corner kicks and one of the saves.
The winning goal for the Seminoles came in the 77th minute of the 90-minute contest. Andrea Hauksdottir was credited with the score.
Bama will be back in action tomorrow at noon CT when the Tide takes on the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles at the FGCU Soccer Complex.
