Ole Miss Not Lacking Confidence

There was a time when the player at Ole Miss only said they could beat Alabama, but deep down knew it was almost impossible. But with a two-year winning streak going for them, the Rebels really do believe that this third time in a row would really be charm. And they do believe they are charmed when it comes to playing Alabama.

Ole Miss has a difference-maker at quarterback, and the team relies on him to lead. That would be Chad Kelly. In 2015 he led the SEC in passing, total offense and passing touchdowns. He has set 14 Ole Miss records, including total yards (4,542), the third most in SEC history.

Though losing to Florida State in the season-opener, Ole Miss is still riding the wave of their 2015 season (which Nick Saban always says to ignore). Freeze said, "Obviously, playing in two (consecutive) New Year's Six games creates expectations. In order for us to maintain that here, there is an extra step that we need to go. There are things that we as coaches need to improve on as well as our players."

The Rebels have the belief they can really make it to the SEC Championship game this season. Of course, in order to do that, they must put away Alabama again this season which would be three consecutive over Saban and the Tide.

Besides Kelly, only three other offensive starters return, but wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo is a big one among the returnees. He had 38 catches last season for 604 yards and seven touchdowns. Tight end Evan Engram is back. Last season he accounted for 464 yards and two touchdowns.

Other players have been making themselves known this season already, and admittedly the Crimson Tide will need to cut out the penalties and mental mistakes to beat Johnny Reb in his own house.

Alabama has been here before. A disciplined team with coaches that prepare the team. Concentration and execution in this one will bring the Tide back home to Tuscaloosa with a win.

Cornelius Bennett, Shaun Alexander Nominated
For The National Football League Hall Of Fame

Former Alabama Crimson Tide football standouts Cornelius Bennett and Shaun Alexander are among ninety-four preliminary nominees who have been announced for the NFL Hall of Fame.

Cornelius "Biscuit" Bennett started 204 games out of 206. When you factor in another 20 starts in the playoffs out of a possible 21 anyone can see he was a significant contributor to the game. As an NFL player Bennett had seven interceptions, scored three touchdowns, forced 31 fumbles, accounted for 1048 solo tackles with 142 assists and is 78th on the all-time list with 71.5 sacks.

He was on the winning team in four AFC Championships, a first-team all-pro five times, six-time pro-bowler, seven-time all-AFC and was also named to the All-90's NFL Team.

Though he had a relatively short professional career, Shaun Alexander made the most of those eight seasons.

Alexander scored a total of 112 touchdowns during his career, 100 rushing and 12 receiving. He was a five-time all-pro, making three Pro Bowls. Alexander was the NFL's MVP in 2005 picking up 1958 yards from scrimmage, which included 1880 yards rushing for 27 TDs. Alexander had 9453 yards rushing, giving him a 4.5 yards-per-rushing average.  He was named to the NFL’s all-2000’s team.
