The University of Alabama Crimson Tide softball team will be hosting a couple of events prior to the start of the 2016 softball season. The first will be their Trivia & Games Night, and follow that up a week later with Fan Appreciation Day.

The softball team's second annual Trivia & Games night has been scheduled for Saturday, January 30th at the Tuscaloosa River Market. It is stressed that there are limited spots available for this event so fans are encouraged to go now to pick up the tickets priced at just $35 per person. A catered meal will be served, a silent auction for various items will be held, and then a trivia contest will give participants a chance at winning prizes.

The following Saturday, February 6th, Alabama softball will host a Fan Appreciation Day at Rhoads Stadium. Now this event is absolutely free of charge, with the gates scheduled to open at 11 a.m. CT where an open practice may be observed. Then food will be made available, served at noon, courtesy of the Bama Softball Walk-Off Club. Now food will only be served while supplies last so be sure to get lined up immediately after the open practice.

Tours of the clubhouse will be given every 30 minutes during Fan Appreciation Day. The team members will also be signing autographs on the concourse following the practice.

Everyone is invited to come and take part in both events.

Monday saw the Alabama men's tennis team take two wins, improving it's record to 3-1 on the young season. The Crimson Tide first took down UAB yesterday morning in a hard-fought 4-3 victory, then took a 6-1 win over Samford yesterday afternoon.

Men's head tennis coach GEORGE HUSACK said, "It was a great day for Alabama tennis. Both UAB and Samford are solid teams, and they gave us their all. We were challenged and our guys did a super job of solidifying the wins."

Information concerning both contests can be found at RollTide.com. Here you will find a list of individual winners.

The Crimson Tide will next head to Jacksonville, Florida to compete in the North Florida Invite. That contest is scheduled to begin this Friday, January 22nd.

Alabama Football

Tide Opens 14-Point Favorite Over USC

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team has barely been able to bask in the glory of the January 2nd College Football Playoff National Championship before people started heading to the NFL, which is expected...and a line has already been placed on the team's first 2016 regular season contest. Alabama defeated the Clemson Tigers 45-40 to capture the school's 16th National Championship, and the fourth in seven years under head coach NICK SABAN.

So now, with the festivities barely over, it appears a betting line has already been established on the Tide's opening contest with the USC Trojans. 5Dimes.com says that Alabama has opened as a 14-point favorite in this next season's opener. The game is a neutral-site game in a venue of which the Crimson Tide has become acquainted. Bama and USC will open the 2016 College Football season on Saturday, September 3rd inside AT&T Stadium. Alabama played two contests there this season, defeating Wisconsin in their season-opener and then Big 10 champ Michigan State in the College Football Playoff Semifinal. The kickoff time for the game has not as yet been set. No decision has been made as to which network will broadcast the game either.

USC finished the 2015 season with an 8-6 overall record, 6-3 in the Pac-12 after falling to the Wisconsin Badgers23-21 in the Holiday Bowl.

This next meeting will be the eighth meeting between Alabama and USC, with the Tide leading the series 5-2. Alabama will be going for its 17th National Championship, the fifth in eight years, and the second back-to-back under Saban.
