Crimson Tide Defeats Ole Miss Rebels

The Crimson Tide has already matched its win total from the 2015-16 season and the 15 wins this year over the first 20 contests is the most wins since the 2000-01 season. That's not all. Bama has also recorded its second consecutive SEC road victory for the first time since 2011.
In addition to Lewis scoring in double figures, juniors Hannah Cook and Meoshonti Knight joined in the double-digit fun with 17 points and 13 points, respectively. Cook and sophomore Shaquera Wade contributed a game-high eight rebounds, while Lewis had a game-best four assists. Freshman Ashley Knight added four blocks in the contest to move her season total to 52 and tie her with Dee Merriweather (2004-05) for third on the Tide's single-season block list. Ole Miss was led by sophomore Madinah Muhammad with 18 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Alabama women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry said, "I really loved how our kids played [yesterday]. We used our timeouts real wisely, and I thought our kids responded in each huddle. What can you say about Jordan Lewis? My goodness gracious. Hannah's (Cook) big baskets at critical times. Just a great effort from so many people. Ashley Knight was huge. Just a great team win. Our bench was in it the whole time. This was a big road win for us."
The crowd also got behind Bama, with a large group of Crimson Tide fans following them to Oxford to cheer the team on.
Curry said, "From the minute our kids saw that, I can't even put into words what that meant. Today, our Crimson Tide Center Court booster club was incredible the entire game and really gave us that sixth man. They (Ole Miss) had a great crowd here today too, but our group was just so loud and so proud. There was a lot of pride today from the court to the stands today. It was an incredible thing to see."
Alabama will travel to Nashville, Tennessee for its next game, taking on the Vanderbilt Commodores on Thursday, January 26th. Game time is 8 p.m. CT and be seen on the SEC Network.

Alabama Softball Games & Trivia Night
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – It was a combined effort. The University of Alabama softball team joined up with
the Bama Softball Walk-Off Club for its third annual Trivia & Games
Night at the Tuscaloosa River Market.
This was the third consecutive year that all 300 seats for the event were sold out, accounting for over $10,000 raised. Between seats sold, silent auction bids and various paid games throughout the night, the event raised approximately $15,000 that will directly help benefit the University of Alabama softball program.
The introduction of the team and coaching staff by Alabama softball head coach Patrick Murphy started the night. Murphy then introduced six-time national champion and former Alabama gymnastics coach Sarah Patterson to the participants and on-lookers. Patterson served as the event's guest speak. Seven rounds of team trivia started the contest/games with various cash games played on stage in-between rounds throughout the night's event. Attendees were also given the opportunity to bid on a selection of prizes in a silent auction.
The Alabama softball team will begin its new season in about two weeks. First up, running February 10-12, is the Kickin' Chicken Classic hosted by Coastal Carolina. Then Bama will host its home-opener on February 15th at Rhoads Stadium against South Alabama at 5 p.m. CT.
Almost there. The Crimson Tide hosted 11 official visitors at The Capstone this weekend. This was Bama's biggest recruiting weekend thus far, and National Signing Day on February 1st.

Jhavonte Dean Decommits From Alabama Football

It really didn't come as a big surprise, and not one that will rock Alabama head coach Nick Saban and the future of Alabama football. Over the weekend Jhavonte Dean decommited from the Crimson Tide. The juco defensive back is thought to be planning to sign with the Miami Hurricanes, according to RollBamaRoll.com.
Bama is now left with 24 commits for the class of 2017, 12 of which have already enrolled at the university. Though the Tide's scholarship limit is 25 for this year, many believe Alabama can go over that this year, but National Signing Day on February 1st will tell the tale.
The departure of Dean leaves the Tide with 24 commits, 12
of which have already enrolled. It is widely believed that Alabama can
go over the 25 scholarship limit this year, but that may remain unknown
until NSD on Feb. 1.
