ATHENS, Georgia –It was indeed impressive. The University of Alabama men's basketball team put its best foot forward last night in a key basketball matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs. It was Crimson Tide freshman Braxton Key leading the Bama boys is an outstanding offensive performance, scoring a career-high 26 points to help catapult the Alabama men's basketball team to an impressive 80-60 road victory over the Dogs on Wednesday night at Stegeman Coliseum. Bama's record improves to 12-7overall, 5-2 SEC. Georgia fell to 12-8 overall, 4-4 SEC.

Four Alabama players finished the contest in double figures. In addition to Key, senior Corban Collins and junior Riley Norris registered 15 points each, while senior Jimmie Taylor added 10. Combined, the four Crimson Tide players scored 66 of the team's 80 points.

Crimson Tide head coach Avery Johnson said, "This was a terrific victory and effort by our guys. I thought we were sharp and confident from the start of this game. Obviously in our situation we had a pretty disappointing game last game on the road. We got back up and practiced on Monday and Tuesday, and had a good work out [Wednesday] morning. We were fortunate to win this game. We know didn't have room for much margin of error, we shot from the three good [last night], played pretty good overall team defense."

Alabama was 51 percent from the field, and hit an amazing 60 percent from beyond the arc, the Tide's season-best. Bama hauled down 40 rebounds as compared to just 27 for Georgia.
Alabama shot 51 percent from the field in the 40 minute contest, while shooting a season-best 60 percent (9-of-15) from beyond the arc.  The Tide also outrebounded the Bulldogs by a 40-27 decision.

The Tide will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs this Saturday afternoon, January 28th at Coleman Coliseum. Tip is set for 5 p.m. CT with the game to be broadcast on the SEC Network.

University of Alabama football head coach Nick Saban has announced a promotion for former offensive analyst-turned-on-field coach, Mike Locksley. Earlier this month Saban had announced the addition of Locksley to an on-field role in the coaching staff at Alabama, and now he has made additional changes in working out exactly how to fill the vacancy that has been left by the departure of Mario Cristobal who earlier this month accepted the position of co-offensive coordinator at Oregon.

Though it is as yet still unclear as to the special on-field duties to which Saban will assign Locksley, the head coach has said that Locksley will be given the title of co-offensive coordinator. He will serve alongside Steve Sarkisian, who himself was promoted from offensive analyst to offensive coordinator following Lane Kiffin's acceptance of the head coaching job at FAU.

247Sports spoke with Saban recently, and the Alabama head coach said, "Mike Locksley's a coach on our staff right now. We're really happy to have him, and when we get all the changes that we're gonna make on the staff worked out, we'll make an announcement about who's gonna coach what and where."

When asked if there were any further changes coming to the Crimson Tide coaching staff, Saban replied, "Not really. I mean I never know what other guys are gonna do. I'm happy with the staff that we have. They've done a really good job for us, and Mike Locksley is a great addition to our staff.

"So we're pleased with the people that we have, but you never know what their goal and aspirations are when recruiting's over."
