Alabama Volleyball Announces Coaches Clinic

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Alabama volleyball head coach Ed Allen and the University of Alabama volleyball program has announced a one-day coaches clinic scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 25th at Foster Auditorium in Tuscaloosa. The principal aim of the clinic is to provide lessons for coaches at all levels of the sport.

The coaches clinic opens for registration at 9 a.m. CT, and will feature Crimson Tide head coach Ed Allen, assistant coaches Ryan Freeburg and Tristan Johnson as well as Samford head coach Keylor Chan. These four will speak on a number of topics concerning coaching the sport of volleyball, including training setters, developing effective attackers, blocking schemes and mechanics and team play. The instruction is aimed to provide information applicable from the middle school level through the college level. At the conclusion of the clinic, Alabama and Samford will scrimmage at 2:15 p.m. CT at the conclusion of the clinic with scrimmage portion of the schedule is open to the public.

Registration for the event has been set at $60 with forms available online at alabamavolleyballcamps.com or by filling out and mailing the PDF flier to the address listed on the site.

Alabama Men's Basketball Faces Georgia Tonight

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Then University of Alabama men's basketball team will square off tonight against the Georgia Bulldogs at 8 p.m. CT in Southeastern Conference basketball action. This will be the first game of a pair of contests this season between the two teams. The Dogs must then travel to Tuscaloosa to face the Crimson Tide on February 23rd at 6 p.m. CT on either ESPN or ESPN2.
     
Bama is looking to make a comeback after losing to the in-state rival Auburn Tigers on Saturday night 63-59. It was only the second loss in the past eight games for the Tide.

This will be the 144th meeting between Georgia and Alabama, with the Crimson Tide leading the all-time series 93-50. It should be noted that the 143 previous meetings ranks seventh and the 93 victories is fourth all-time in Alabama men's basketball history. Georgia has won three consecutive games over Bama, including a 70-63 win in Athens, Georgia in their only meeting last season.

Wednesday's contest will be televised by ESPNU with Mike Couzens (play-by-play) and Brooke Weisbrod (analyst) calling the game. Fans can, of course,  listen to the radio broadcast on the Crimson Tide Sports Network as Chris Stewart (play-by-play) and Bryan Passink (analyst) will call all the action.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama –  University of Alabama women's basketball's Jordan Lewis has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week following her performances against fourth-ranked Mississippi State as well as the Ole Miss Rebels, according to an announcement by the league office on Tuesday. This is the fourth such honor of the season for Lewis, which is the most by any Alabama women's basketball student-athlete in her career.

In the contest with Ole Miss, Lewis scored a career-high 22 points in the Crimson Tide's win while also contributing six rebounds, four assists and one steal. She was dominant down the stretch, finishing with seven points, three rebounds and three assists in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for Alabama. Lewis also reached double-digits against Mississippi State, bringing her weekly average to 16.0 points, a number more than six points higher than her season average.

Lewis has started all 20 games for the Crimson Tide at point guard and has been key in the success of the Bama belles this season. She has led the team all season in assists, currently averaging 4.2 assists per game, which ranks her fourth in the SEC behind two seniors and a junior. Lewis is the only freshman ranked in the top 10 in the league in assists.

Jareem Richards Represents Alabama Track & Field As 
Southeastern Conference Co-Runner Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - The honors keep coming for University of Alabama student-athletes. In every sport, Crimson Tide athletes excel.

Alabama Crimson Tide sprinter Jereem Richards has been named the Southeastern Conference Men's Co-Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Richards shares the honor this week with Mylik Kerley from Texas A&M.

Richards was hot at the Auburn Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Saturday, easily out-distancing the field in the 200 meters with a time of 20.57. The recorded time is not only the fastest in the country this year,  but currently stands as the fastest time in the world so far in 2017,  according to the latest International Association of Athletics Federations' (IAAF) world list.

The time is also the second-fastest indoor 200 meter effort in Alabama track and field history, trailing only by 20.32. Current leader is Diondre Batson, achieving the mark at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Crimson Tide will be back in action this weekend at the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson University, January 27-28.

Nation's No. 1 Kicker Picks The Crimson Tide
Joseph Bulovas Commits




The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team has a new kicker on the way. The No. 1 kicker in the nation, Joseph Bulovas, has selected the Alabama football program as his choice to continue his football career.

Bulovas has been a multi-position player, serving as a kicker, punter and quarterback for the Mandeville (Louisiana) High School football team. The 6' 0", 205-pounder is the 25th commitment for the class of 2017.
